Frugal things I did this week
Hi, I thought I would be fun for us to inspire each other by telling each other what frugal things we have done for the day/week/month.
I'll start:
1) air dried my laundry on shower curtain rod, drying rack (saved 4.50 in dryer "fees"
2) Made shepherd's pie, crockpot chicken stroganoff, lasagna, and mexicali rice to freeze (I am going back to work opposite DF and he will not cook (will save $$$$ on fast food this way)
3) organized all baby clothes and maternity clothes bought at thrift store (plan on having family soon after Sept wedding!)
4) Took a well paying temp position in order to pay off last two debts and upcoming wedding
5) Have washed my hair every 2nd day (I am at home not working or going out much) to save water.
6) shopped for loss leaders ONLY yesterday. Bought 24 cans of veggies and saved over 10.00
7) Started my Christmas shopping with clearance sales items for example 65.00 ties bought for 5.00 each!
***8) attempted my first dumpster dive: saw a plastic mat you use for your office chair (like a rug protector) but I couldn't fit it in my car!
Anxious to hear your ideas!

1-Picked up $60 of groceries for less than $25 after card and coupons.
2-Found a Thomas the Tank Engine comforter for dss on sale for $39,(not very frugal) had a coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase so I found a $40 shirt for dh marked down to $14, used the coupon and paid $4 for the shirt.
3-Bought all the pretty napkins and dessert plates for housewarming party at 65% off--still expensive, but so nice I might have considered buying at only 25% off.
4-The usual-hung laundry, condensed errands, heat down etc.
5-Fought the urge to buy shoes--not a single pair this week.

I think the best fugal thing I did this week was pick up a copy of the Tightwad Gazette for $9.99 at Sam's. Never would have known it was there, for that great price, if it hadn't been for the gals on this site! Thanks!

Hung 2 loads of laundry to dry in the basement.
Kept the thermostat down.
Stayed out of stores...save lots of $ that way!Never underestimate the power of frugality!

I "fed" my beast (my Intrepid) at the 76 station so I could get a rebate on the gas. It's also about three cents a gallon cheaper to start with!
I did an online energy audit from my electric company and found out I SHOULD be spending about $2800.00 (GULP!) on heating/cooling/hot water each year. I spend less than HALF that! YIPPEEE!

1. Shopped with coupons only...one deal I got 34 bottles of Alever for free
Not bad since we dont have double coupons!!
2.Trash picked me some new jean shorts. In Florida these are a must !
3.Traded items for Marlboro miles instead of buying them....I swear Im going get 2 of them Stetsons LOL
4.Bought Dd a pair of used figure skates for Easter online for $17 shipped. THey are $75-$150 here, ACK!
5. Resisted the urge to buy lots of Easter candy from the easter aisle. instead I saved money by buying regular candy. Never thought of this before. And also resisted the urge to buy the themed easter goodies (jacks, puzzles etc) and went to the dollar store and did so much better!!
Thats it so far!

Good jobs ladies! Keep them coming!
I thought of one more thing I try to do to be frugal:
Bring a lunch to work everyday and a big bottle of water!

Checked out the Jurassic Park III dvd from the library instead of buying it.
Checked out the Planet of the Apes dvd from the library instead of buying it.
Checked out Pearl Harbor from the library before purchasing - we do want to buy it after seeing it. LOL
Hung clothes to dry in the showers (no clothes lines allowed in my neighborhood).
Ate leftovers for dinner and lunch yesterday.
Kept last night's leftover green beans to add to a container in the freezer of misc. veggies and meat for a soup starter.
Used bath water for watering plants.

Deboned a turnkey that we didn't seem to be finishing, and froze. Will make turnkey and gravy another day.
Deboned chicken (again, that we didn't seem to be finishing), and froze. I will make barbecue chicken w/ fresh bread another day.
Returned items to ABC.
Commutted w/ dh to work, even though I need to wait a little in the evenings for him ( we just started doing this)
Found some simple summer blouses on ebay for a buck, and a new watch for 2 bucks.
And the usual....lunch to work, all lights off, heat down..etc.

Sent DH and DD to garage sale on Sat and got my anniversary gifts for 22.00 instead of from the mall or Wmart for much more. Made 2 loaves of bread--so far-- with anniversary Bread Machine, I soooooo love this thing! Febrezed my other anniversary gift--suede jacket-- instead of having it deodorized professionally. Let DH have the car Sunday while we were at church/Easter egg hunt, so that I couldn't go shopping after it was done, before he got off work. That alone saved about 35.00 -EEK! Hung laundry, ate up the leftovers, stayed on grocery budget, etc. All the normal stuff.

Well, I am so proud of myself.
I have been using my bread machine a lot lately and I made pizza dough today and we had homemade pizza for dinner tonight. My boys said it was the best they have ever tasted. (even better than Pizza Hut, they said
) Well, I have never thought of myself as a good cook and have not enjoyed cooking before, but this pizza thing was fun. No more Pizza Hut or Papa Johns for us!
