My dh thinks I've REALLY lose it....
Ok -- so I hang my clothes to dry in the basement, go to Detroit to buy groceries, use a bucket to catch water in the shower to water plants with, started a compost pile in the backyard and HAD plans to make a rain barrel (which he vetoed cutting our gutter pipe), unplug the microwave and other small appliances when not in use, unplug and turn OFF his fans when he leaves the room, covet change for the change jar.....

if I even thought of putting a timer in the bathroom for showers he'd have me commited I'm sure of it!

Just think of it as a training exercise. Lots of men need training.

AWE but just wait until he begins to see the savings. He'll come around, just hang in there and at the village. It always seems to take the guys a bit longer to catch on.

Stop buying disposable anything. That is what set mine over the edge. For about 6 mos when we were saving for the house I bought no paper towels, trash bags, napkins, etc. I thought I would find him curled in the fetal position one night. I made HIM nuts!!

Hey, maybe we can all talk to our dh's about getting us commited in the same facility, talk about frugal, we might get a group rate!!

My dh's main gripe is the store brand food I buy, instead of the "good stuff" he wants. He hates that I buy at Aldi's...says it's not quality...

He got quiet when I told him it's Aldi's or we can't afford to eat.

Ohhh Jerseygirl, I've already crossed that line. No paper plates, napkins -- paper towels. Yeah that def made him start to question me. He's not sure if he should classify me as a tree-hugger or frugally possessed as he calls it. I told him "whats the difference?"

And Graci -- I made dh go grocery shopping with me at Aldi's. I had $100 and was piling that cart up so high. He got sooo nervous!! He kept saying "do we have enough?" and I just kept saying "gosh I sure hope so!" Wasn't he surprised that I got all that food for $80! I think he's starting to see the light and he sure gives me more respect but he STILL thinks I'm on the nutty side!

My dh thought I exagerated a few years ago...but now he's as frugal as me, if not more in some instances!

Hang on, Chea! He'll come along...

Well not to brag BUTTTTT -- we are leaving for 2 weeks on a vacation to warm sunny (wet) FL. ALL paid for in cash, staying for a few days at Disney and then with family. We're driving down and is he impressed that I had a secret stash all saved up to pay for it!
