Awwww, Debbie, are you trying to talk me out of my Taco Bell for tonight? For DD and I it would cost about $5.... make it $10 if I am really nice and bring some home for DH to have when he gets home from work.

Ok, ok, yes, I KNOW that $10 is not a frugal meal for two adults and one toddler.

<SIGH>Well, I suppose I should be good and make us some soup and sandwiches.... that's a frequent dinner for DD and I.... cheap, too, since everything's in the pantry to make potato soup (my favorite) and I have pimento cheese in the fridge.... but..... well.... I'm still craving Taco Bell, and we'll be driving right by one later on the way out to the construction site....... so I won't make any promises!

Hey, you have to give me credit for honesty if not frugality....

Steak Salad Sandwich ala Pete

1 sirloin steak from the 4-pack from Aldis (about 75 cents)
Arugula from the garden free
black seeded simpson from the garden free
2 tomatoes from the garden
1 pickled pepperoncini per sandwich; minced
oil & vinegar w/pepper to drizzle over the sandwiches
1 hoagie bun per sandwich 30 cents apiece from the bakery at Walmart. It's so good. Yum!

I'm ordering a Sicilian pizza. Bad I know but I intend to feed 5 teenagers, Courtney, DH and I on this lol.

$15.00 for 8 people=$1.88 each

Not too bad....

Cancelled the burgers for tonight since the twins are now spending the night at a friend's house. Jeff, Jaysn and I ate leftovers, drank lots of cold ice water and had ice cream bars for dessert. Only cost was the ice cream bars!

Total: .51

Leftovers for me-- cold fried chicken, corn on the cob, cantelope. So I guess it's esentially free

OK, I'm back,

I opted for a huge pot of my potato soup.

Here's my guess-timated costs:
3 large potatoes= .50
boullion cubes= .15
1 can evap milk= .59
seasonings/ chives= .10
flour= .10
parm. cheese (garnish)= .25

The entire pot of soup= $1.69.

I get about 8-9 bowls of soup per pot, which is about four meals, sometimes more if we have sandwiches with it.

So, I'm estimating the soup at .21 per bowl!

With it I had a can of Mtn Dew (.25 on sale), DD had ice water, and we both had some crackers- let's say .15 in crackers. DD shared my soup.

Dinner for DD and I tonight~ 61 cents!! WOW!

MUCH cheaper than the Taco Bell I was craving....

(Later edited to correct my addition, LOL!)

We had boneless chicken $1.99 lb cooked on the grill, rice pilaf 50¢ and musclun lettuce salad free. Good stuff!
