Default I am Catherine---I wanna be frugal!

I am re-newing my committment to be a frugal-mom, housewife, parent, person.

We don't really have debts but we keep dipping into investments to pay for daily living expenses and I just want to get out of this cycle! I usually like to cook for my family but have been in a rut for awhile picking up fast food often and buying gadgets or junk that we don't need. I need to get to the bottom of this and the first thing I will do today is return some stuff to Home Depot today and get the right and less expensive stuff at Lowes to re-grout my kitchen counters (I am creaped out by my counters and hate to cook in there unless I completely cover them with towels and cutting boards.

Oh, please wish me luck I have never successfully done a do-it yourself project at home and I am nervous but I need to prove to my husband that we don't have to pay someone to do everything for us!

Step 1--return stuff to Home Depot (I hate returning things--I feel nervous--on the spot and stupid for buying the wrong things.) I can do this.

Bravely going to my least favorite type of store in town,

    Catherine

We've returned many things that we brought home on a whim and realized we shouldn't have gotten it. Its not hard to return most things. Good luck.

Good luck in your journey on returning to frugality. We've all had to do this one time or another. There are many wonderful tips here on continuing to be frugal.

Catherine, welcome to the Village! I love your attitude & you can do this! Bet your countertops are going to come out great. Gonna have to find a new place to put your towels & cutting boards.

Make yourself at home & I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

don't be nervous about the return. i work in retail and let me tell you, returns happen all the time. i've had customers return towels for their bathroom 3 times because the colors weren't quite right.

Thanks everyone, I couldn't go to the store yet. I had to spend half the day at an Allery-Asthma specialist's office with my boys' asthma treatment. I hope to exchange the right materials today and borrow a rotary tool from a friend for pulling the old grout out.

I am changing the color of grout too. It is a charcoal grey color now and I am getting a white, should set off the blue tiles nicely and I won't have to worry about using bleach on the counters and changing the grout color!

If I can get a digital picture when I am done, I will post it, okay?
(I am trying to get excited about this instead of scared---just don't ask about the plumbing I tried to fix before I finish the re-grouting.) My husband has already asked why we don't hire someone to do this..... sigh.

    Dreaming of shiny kitchen counters,
    Catherine
