How long do you think you can go before turning your heat on?
I refuse to turn my heat on the first of Oct.. I would like to go until Oct. 31st. Unrealistic probably, but were aiming for that. Tonight its going to get to -4C, below freezing and suppose to be that the next 3 nights and only going to +4C tomorrow with snow flurries. Yes I did say snow.
How long do you think you can go before turning your heat on for the coming months?

We've used space heaters a couple of times already. I know this sounds unbelievable, but the first time was on August 9th. (I live in GA) Ds complained of the cool weather in the morning, so I turned it on low. A couple of weeks ago, the temps were in the mid 40's here in the mtns, so once again, we used the heat for a few hours, in the morning.

DH will light the furnace any day now. I could hold off, but he and the kdis don't like the cold mornings.

We try to go as long as possible too. We have had a couple of fires in the fireplace to take the edge off a couple of times.
We'll probably have a fire this evening. It's a raw rainy day and is 65º in and low 50's out.~*Darlene*~

No heat so far. We had a cold summer, but September was actually a pretty nice month. It just cooled back down the last week or so. Supposed to drop into the 40s at night. But we're heading to Denver on vacation, so the house can get cold just as long as the birds don't freeze! My fish have a heater and will be fine.
I'm sure the heat will go on when we get back though.

Probably by mid October if the weather keeps up like this. I resisted this morning big time...it was COLD! I turn the heat on in the morning when we wake and the floors are freezing....lol..and then I turn it off and let the sun shine in and warm up the house. This reminds me I must vacumn out the vents...ugh...

i am hoping we can wait until nov. it's still in the 70's and low 80's here. until it gets really cold at night we won't turn it on. all of our utilities are included in our rent so that's not a factor for us, but i don't wnat everyone getting used to cranking up the heat when it gets the slightest bit cold and then go into shock when we finally can buy our own house and are back to paying for the heat and being frugal about it.

Ours has been on 4-5 times already. Once this big old house gets cold nothing warms it up.

I would like to wait until at least the middle of Nov if I can. We are in North Texas so we will be able to wait until at least the first of November but I am shooting for the middle.
