Any one ever tried this?
I read yesterday a frugal tip for putting newspapers between the mattress and boxsprings- supposed to make you warmer in the bed.
Has anyone ever tried this?

Never have....I wonder if it would work in a waterbed.....
I think I'll not try it, might catch me on fire.....
sounds reasonable though Denise. Let us know if you try it.

Ok, ummm.....how would that work? I am not being rude; I'm really curious.

When I went camping with the Girl-Scouts, we put them either on the cot...then sleeping bag on top...or...just layer them on the floor & put sleeping bag on top.
Makes it much warmer.
You have probably seen the "Homeless" in the park covered by newspaper!

I'm assuming that the newspaper would insulate the cooler air from the floor, from reaching the sleeper.
I know that newspaper is a good insulator, I just never thought of putting it between the mattress and the springs.

That makes sense. When we were remodeling this old farmhouse of ours, we found newpapers between the studs for insulation.

I think it would work but I also think it would probably leave black newsprint ink on your mattresses. I know that our newpaper advertises to use a smear proof ink but it still transfers to your fingers when you hold the paper. I am afraid that it would transfer to your mattress and in turn transfer to your sheets when you turned your mattress. It might become a pricey insulator if it ruined your mattress and sheets.

Dee, we found that with our first house too!!! I have never tried them with my matress. Though I think I would use a paper without newprint on it because you know how that black rubs off on your hands. How about artist newsprint paper? That's pretty cheap and you can get it in huge sheets!

I was thinking the same thing about DH! He 'goes along' with most things frugal, but some he just shakes his head!

do newspaper still give away the end rolls of the newsprint paper? if so that would still keep it cheap and you wouldn't have the black ink problem.
or you could iron your newspapers like butlers used to have to do. the heat from a DRY iron sets the inkwife to carl
