Help! and ideas needed please!
My dd has decided to enter a pageant. That's great, only it costs nearly $500 to enter! They say there is no cost to the contestant- they are supposed to get sponsors to the tune of nearly $500. That might be easy for those who live in large urban areas, but our tiny little town doesn't have much to offer.
What I need are ideas for her to do for fundraising-- did I mention that we need this by Oct. 23rd? Quick crafts or things to sell, and money raising ideas at all would be appreciated.

Wow, that's a lot of money. Where does the $$ go?
Bottle drive to help raise $$?
Wishing your dd good luck.:

~One more idea: host a mom's saturday morning off. You and your DD along with some of her friends can watch neighborhood kids (dropped off at your place) for one saturday between 9am-12 for $5 a child! It's a steal for parents and a great way to fundraise for your DD.
Two weekends in a row with 10 kids a shot thier is another $100!

Raffle something off. We do dinner and a movie baskets that always make us at least $60 after expenses and we also live in a small town.

Check to make sure that she doesn't need the actual sponsor first. Some contests require a sponsor. For reasons of community involvement or something like that.

She has a few sponsors from the local businesses.
I'm not sure of the laws concerning raffles. Can't do the babysitting thing (would be the easiest and ideal) cause this weekend is homecoming here, next weekend I work, and the following week is the pagent.
I don't know what the money is used for. I assume for rental of the hall/auditorium, paying the judges and so forth.

Denise, I've done a huge amount of fuindraising for charities and schools, and raffles are the best way, by far.
Raffles for charity is usually legal. Ask your local member of parliament or police officer. Ask the businesses who are sponsoring her if they'd be willing to donate a prize for a raffle, promise to give them publicity in the local newspaper or radio. It's just a matter of writing a letter of thanks to the paper and they'll print it. Good luck.

Do you have a homemade quilt that you can part with and maybe put it up for a raffle.. Have it hanging somewhere, where a lot of people can see it and raffle tickets 1.00 each or 6 for 5.00... Just a thought.. I know that here quilt raffles are a great fundraiser.
