PrairieRose is going cold turkey
The bedroom re-do is almost completely complete (
) and after sorting through every piece of clothing, every shoe, every earring.......I've made a startling discovery. I can't believe how much money I just threw out
I didn't exactly throw it out as I passed on my clothes to a person who will use them but still......oh my, I'm sick at myself. Ssssssooooooo on that note, I've told Gripey that I'm not buying one article of clothing, one accessory (i.e. jewelry---my personal weakness) for an entire YEAR!!! After he quit laughing he told me I couldn't do it. You know what that means girls, I've got myself a double dog dare on my hands. Anyone care to join me?

LOL I'm afraid you may need to go this one without me, Lisa! Unless of course I could shop tomorrow and then join you on Sunday
You know, binge before the year begins??
Hmmm I *might* be able to do it if I can buy FABRIC to make clothes for myself. Would that work?

Good luck tho, I think you are a brave soul!

Sorry Lisa, you are on your own on this one. I know I am going to have to replace underwear within a year and I refuse to wear underwear with holes!!!!

Can't join ya but can cheer you on. My kids are embarassed at how old most of my clothes are so lots of clothing isn't something I need to worry about.
You go girl! So happy you are almost done with your bedroom.

Right now I am on month 4 of my 6 months of no new clothes. 6 months is doable. A year is commendable!!
For a reformed clotheshorse I'll tell you its really not that hard esp. if you had too much to begin with!! Any time I even THINK about buying new clothes I just go and try to organize the madness I already own. You can do it though. Think in small increments and then have a prize at the end. I'll help to cheer you on!

I once went for a year without buying any yarn. DH swore I couldn't do it, but I did. The funny thing was how much yarn was given to me that year, and that I ended up with waaaay more than I started out with at the beginning of the year.

Oh I don't think I would be able to do it! Good for you though. I have cut WAY back. I can't even imagine me being so disciplined that I could go a whole year.

I could easily go a year without shopping for clothes for myself, but I'm always at the thrift store finding some kind of clothing for the kids.

I could maybe go 6 months. But with the way my weight fluctuates a year is out of the question.

Wow, I wish I could do that, but my weight is all over the place, so it's not really possible. Especially now that my wedding is only a year away. I'm cheering for you though!!
