    Default Coffee maker v.s Perculator

Just found out that a perculator uses on average 42% less enegry than a coffee maker.

Also it is best when the coffee maker / perculator is finished brewing the coffee to turnoff and unplug the machines. It is more cost/energy efficent to reheat coffee in the micorwave.

The majority of you probably already knew this! But I just found out and thought I would share just incase.

    Melina,

We have perked our coffee on the stove for many many years. IMO it tastes much better and is hotter than a drip maker. We also use a carafe for the coffee so it stays hot and fresh and we don't need to use anything to warm it up with.

We only have coffee on saturday and Sunday morning and we use a million year old elctric coffee pot - we are not real connoisuers but we have discovered a couple of secrets for making even the crappiest coffee taste good - we put a pinch of salt and a pinch of oregano in the pot - it makes the coffee so smooth and flavorful.

Thanks, I use a coffee maker but always unplug it after it's done brewing, simply because it turns on by itself. Must be something wromg with the wiring since it is new
