coupons
I am new to this message board and am loving it.
I would like some help with putting together a coupon binder or organizing them in some sort of other logical way.
Please share you hints, tips and advice. Also maybe some examples of how you put yours together.
thanks
jennifer

Here's Heather's binder. She uses baseball sleeves.

I used to use a check file. It was plastic and kinda accordian style, but small not like the big folder check files. I organized by category. I got it at walmart. I'll take a pic and upload it when I get a chance. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. i use a binder too. mine doesn't zip up, but i have baseball card pages in it. everything is arranged by catagories with the catagories in abc order. i have a tab on the first page of each catagory, but i wasn't motivated enough to put the labels in them.
but there are labels on the pages.
i have a couple of pages in teh front where i put the coupons i plan to use for a trip. when i make my list i put a c beside the items that i have coupons for and they are already in the front so i don't have to search for them in the book at the store.
i also have one page that is just one big sleave like for putting an 8X11.5 sheet of paper in. i put all the coupons that i am actually going to hand to the cashier in there as i put the items in my cart. that way they aren't mixed in with teh ones i pulled but didn't end up using for whatever reason.
i like the binder because it is easier to find the coupons i am looking for and if i drop it, they all don't go flying everywhere.wife to carl

I tried the trading card sleeves in a binder. It did not work well for me. I thought it was a hassle getting the coupons in and out of the little pockets. I use something like Sara said, a 12 compartment plastic accordian check file. I got mine at Dollar Tree. It closes with an elastic band that goes around it. I like it alot, because I can carry it in my purse, that way I always have my coupons with me if I stop at the store and run across an unexpected sale. I used a 4x6 plastic card file with cardboard dividers for about 15 years before that. It worked good too, because it would ride in the "child seat" of the shopping cart. I would open the lid and as I pulled out the coupons I was redeeming on that trip, I would put them in the lid. I use a lot of coupons!

i fold a lot of them in half. most will fold easily where teh picture and the exp. date will be on the same side. the box worked well for a while until i had to start going shopping with kids and one of them had to sit in the child seat. now that they are older i have the seat back but i sit my binder in it with the spine down one the seat and i can flip through it easily.
it can be time consuming filing the coupons. but i'm one of those obsessive neat freaks and they have to be all grouped together and organized. it's one of the few things i can organize and it stays organized

I use a 3-ring binder with the baseball card sleeves, and I've also added some photo sleeve that hold larger coupons and rebate forms. My binder zips closed.
I was looking for an old thread we had on making one, but can't seem to find it. Melissa (mrsengeseth) posted about hers once and that's where I got the ideas for mine. I'll edit this if I find it.

I used to use a coupon binder (now that we buy organics, we don't have that many coupons to keep up with). This is what I basically followed to get me started - http://pages.ivillage.com/lwmsavon/l...dtips/id2.html
