Default What good bargains have you found at the store?

I was at meijers the other day and saw some hanes underware unwrapped. The underwear were on clearance and in my size. Never guess how much I paid for it!! $1.74. Nothing wrong with them and in my size. Believe me I grapped them like a hot potato. Renee

I found 5 lb. bags of red potatoes today for 50¢! Apparantly the produce manager had ordered too many, so it was an in-store special. I was so excited about my potato purchase, I said something to the clerk that checked out my groceries, she was about my age, and I called her by name (it was on her nametag), i said "Christine, you ought to get some of those potatoes, they are only 50¢ for 5 lbs.!" She said, "I don't buy potatoes. They are too much trouble!" I said "Huh?" "You have to peel them, and cook them!" she replied. Then the woman in line behind me, also about my age, said to me, "What do you do with them?"

I was starting to feel like I had entered the "Twilight Zone" or something. I quickly recited how to make potato soup for the woman in line behind me, then she said "My Grandmother used to make potato soup, I just never paid any attention to how she did it!" I told her you can make mashed potatoes from them, cook them with a pot roast, or just boil or fry them. Amazing!

What a great bargain. I don't like to peel potato's, but I do anyways. I can't believe with the price you got on those potato's that they wouldn't have bought a bag at least.

Peeling potatoes is not my favorite thing to do, but it really does not take that much of my time. If the red potatoes are the small, new ones, I just wash and quarter them but leave the skin on, boil them and serve with butter and parsley.

If anyone has a Kroger store in there are they hav 10/$10 sale. For ex., 10/$10 for half gallon of oj, milk or chochalate milk, the following are all Kroger brands for 10/$10 Kroger marshmallow creme, oatmeal, cooking oil, cookie mix, semi -sweet baking morsels, much, much more. So, if you have a Krogers around you check it out.

Nothing earth shattering here. I did get a 5lb. box of clementines on sale for $4.99 (said the reg. price is $8.99 - last year they were $11.99!).

Sounds as if everybody is finding great deals! Love it when we can find deals! When I find a really good deal, I feel sorry for my friends and family!! I call them up and let them know. I get just to excited to keep it myself!!

I was in Beall's the day before yesterday looking for Christmas gifts. On a clearance rack I found some hawaiian print shirts in dh's size for only $5.77, reg. price $24. I got them and when I got to the register they gave me another 20% off which thrilled me at the time. Made them cost with tax $3.66 ea. . I got to the car and was looking at the reciept and the 20% had been a senior discount. Couldn't decide if I should laugh or cry so I decided to laugh instead!
Dh had just commented on our trip that he would love a couple more hawaiian print shirts.....ask and ye shall receive!

I found TP for .69 a 4-pack at Safeway!!!! Run to Safeway and get your Soft and Gentle TP at this price now. They said the price was only good while their supply lasted. I had hubby get 10 4-packs for me since I have this horrible fear of ever running out of TP!

JC Penny's sent a $10 gift certificate through the mail and I almost threw it away thinking no one store would just give you just a $10 gift certificate without spending at least $100. Well I was wrong! I took the $10 gift certificate and bought a turtle neck. It was originally $30, but on sale for 12.99 and ended up paying $3.17. My girlfriend gave me hers, so I gave it to my daughter and she ended up using it to get her sister a pair of pants. The pants she bought her sister were originally $29.99 on sale for $14.99 and ended up getting the pants for $5.88. Talk about getting bargains!
