Question Where do ya'll get all your.......

......coupons? I get the ones from the Sunday paper, but don't know of any other places to get them from!!! I have heard people talking about using more than one coupon for an item, I didn't even know you could do this . Also, how do you know if a store doubles coupons......Yes, I know, I'm a little slow and I tend to show my sheltered life alot here lately....but I seen a woman at Wal-Mart yesterday spend a total of $300 and after all her coupons she only paid like $170 something....I was totally shocked. And here I thought I was getting a good deal when I used a coupon for a $1 off....LOL

If you have friends/family that take the paper, but do not clip coupons, ask if you can have them. If there is alot of coupons that I will use on a particular Sunday, I will even buy another paper just to get them. I have also found that Walgreen's sells our city's Sunday paper for only 50¢! The cover price is $1.50! So I ALWAYS buy my paper at Walgreen's. They do this in an effort to get more people into the store, in hopes that they will purchase other things while they are there.

BLINKIES! Do you know what I am talking about? The little red boxes with the blinking light that hang on the grocery shelf and spit out coupons. If it is something I know I will use, I will take more than one. I will frequently take the coupon and file it that day, and then wait for a few weeks (until the expiration date) to see if the item goes on sale. This is how I got 8 jars of Peter Pan Peanut butter for 50¢ a jar. Coupon was for 55¢ off any one Peter Pan peanut butter. We eat alot of peanut butter at our house, so each time I was in the store that week, I would take 2 or 3 coupons. Then I waited. A couple of weeks later, it was on sale 2/$3 and the store doubled my coupons up to $1, so I got them for 50¢ each! Of course when the Peter Pan was on sale, the "blinkie" box was gone. Sometimes the blinkie box and sale occur at the same time. This was the case this week with Nestle Toll House cookie dough. Reg. price was $3.29, on sale for 2/$3 (great sale!) but there was my old friend, Blinkie! Spitting out coupons for $1 off 2 Nestle Toll House cookie dough! Oh happy day! I bought four for $1 each. I would never pay $3.29 for this stuff, I usually make my chocolate chip cookies from scratch, but this was actually cheaper than doing that. Also check women's magazines, like Woman's Day or Family Circle for coupons. I find coupons online that you can print out, or they will mail you one if you fill out a short request form.

I even find coupons on the grocer's shelf, discarded by some other shopper that intended to buy the item, but the coupon was expired a day or two ago (Kroger will accept coupons up to 14 days past the expiration date) or the price of the item was too high ( in this case if the expiration date in the future, into my file it goes, next week, it might be on sale buy one get one free, and with their discarded coupon and the one just like it that I clipped from my Sunday paper, I get a heck of a deal on two of the same item! Hope this helps!

It's rare that I find any in the newspaper inserts that I can use, but every now and then there is.

I also use blinkies or get coupons from similar diplays (like tear pads or boxes at the health food store). The majority of my coupons come from a quarterly coupon booklet the health food store (Wild Oats) has free in the store and the Greenwise monthly booklets that are free at Publix grocery stores. Both contain mfg.'s coupons so I can use them anywhere.

Okay, just so I know I am understanding you correctly Deb, I can buy two sunday papers and use the same coupon out of both on the same item........?????I have never seen a blinkie....I'm gonna have to shop around I guess. I normally stick to Wal-mart, but I do need to get into Kroger and look around.....Does Kroger have the blinkie machines? Also, you said Kroger doubles coupons?

    Thanks for all the info......

You can't use two coupons on one item (the coupon should say on it one per purchase). You can, however, use a store coupon (like Walgreens) in combination with a mfg. coupon.

All major grocery stores like Publix, Winn Dixie, Kroger, Albertsons, etc. should have blinkies. The box will be attached on the shelf or freezer case near the item the coupon pertains to.

We don't have Kroger here, but our hometown does. I know the stores there double to 50¢ every day, but they will only double the first coupon, not multiples (i.e. - you have 4 coupons for Tide, only the first one would be doubled and the rest would be face value). The best thing to do would be to call your local store to check their particular coupon policy.

We get our coupons from the gas station on Monday. DH just asks for the old Sunday papers, we get about 15-25 papers each week.

They are more than happy to save the paper for us, they don`t have to walk out to dump them. DH also says that it saves on their trash fees.

We save the coupon inserts and burn the rest of the paper.( We use wood heat, so we use the paper for fire starter.)

Just stop by your local gas station on Monday morning and ask them to save their old papers for you, hope it works for you.

No, I don't use two coupons for one item, but on a buy one get one free at Kroger, each item rings up for half price, and you can use one coupon for each item. They double up to 50¢ coupons, so a 55¢ or a 75¢ coupon is also worth $1.00. Every once in a while, they will double the $1.00 coupons (makes it worth $2.00 off) this only happens about three times a year. I save alot of my health and beauty coupons for this, and stock up on deodorant, toothpaste and shampoo, hairspray, etc. Usually I can get enough for free or almost free to last me to the next double $1 coupon event. I love when they do that.

You can also get coupons online~ legally, you can't buy them, BUT, you can pay someone for their time to clip them. That time generally runs from 8-15 cents per coupon.

I use The Coupon Clippers www.thecouponclippers.com
and feel like they're pretty good. I buy coupons when I need to stockpile something, or if it's something I buy frequently.

Around here, blinkie machines are scarce-- Kmart and once in a while Super WalMart are the only places I regularly see them.

Sometimes I go to the Recyling Bins in town and grab a few inserts.
