Default That was one FRUGAL chicken!

Last Sunday morning I went to the store to get a roater for dinner with my son. When I got there I saw they had whole roasters for like $8 but then I noticed they had whole fryers and one was a buy today special for $3. Now, I don't really know the difference, but $5 is $5.
    That chicken provided:

    -Dinner on Sunday
-Hot Chicken sand. for lunch on Monday
    -Leftovers for dinner on Monday
-Cold chicken sandwiches for lunch on Tues & Weds
-I boiled the carcass on Wednesday night and it provided
    -Soup for dinner on Thursday
-Soup for lunch on Friday and Saturday.

How could it get any cheaper?!?! Guess who's going to the store again this Sunday morning!!

BTW, what IS the difference between a whole roaster and a whole fryer???

They are a great deal! Love hams on the bone for the same reason, it sure goes a long way.
    Here's some info on poultry.

WTG! You really stretched that into a lot of meals.

Are you tired of chicken yet? I'd have to take a week off before I did it again.

roastes tend to have a bit more meat on them.

I had to go to this thread when I saw it as I just made a small frugal cookbook for my little brother for christmas. In is is two pages on "what to do with a chicken" that spans 5 days.

Birds of a feather and great minds eh?

Great work, Ruth! If you do that again and start to get tired of chicken, you can always throw the cooked chicken in the freezer to make quick soup or casseroles later! Chicken soup freezes great, too, if you just wait to add the noodles until you're reheating it.
