    Smile Counted the Change Jar

Since there isn't a whole lot else I can do, I decided to count the change jar and roll the change. I had to dip into the change jar a few times this past year but I still ended up with $44.50 in change. I have it all rolled and will deposit it into Ryan's college fund next week. I hope to have more in the jar next year (less dipping into it I hope). Anyone else counting their change jar? Do you roll it or take it to one of the change counting machines? I roll mine rather than give up any money for the change machine. For some strange reason, I find rolling the change once a year a sort of tradition for me and I actually look forward to it.

    That's great, Pat

Good for you rolling it too. I HATE rolling change, so I end up using it at my grocery store in the Coin Star machine. I let mine build up for a while and started dipping into it when Dave started having unpaid weeks at work. I'd mostly use it for K's milk/lunch money at school. Now I've decided that I'm going to use it for groceries for a while. I need to do some money shuffling, and for now that's the way it's going to work around here

    Great job Pat.

I continue to add all our change, keep track of it as I add the change and put it in my siggy. We've been dipping into ours all of Dec. as the need arose. It paid for items such as milk or butter and a couple times we used it for gas in the van.

I'm hoping in 2005 it can remain in the jar and at the end of each month I'll put it into savings.

    Good job!

All of our silver coins go to our EF. I roll them as I have enough and deposit them immediately.

dh took the money in our big pepsi bottle adn all the money from the kids' various piggie banks, rolled it up and deposited half in to ds's and half into dd's savings. each got $49 and some change
so almost $100.00 in change this year.

WOW That is great! I have some change in a big wine bottle, but I usually take it to the bank every 3 months and add it to our freedom/savings account.

Great job on savings so much change!

We usually cash ours in every few months. Fortunately, our bank has a coin machine that is free of charge to use as long as you have an account with them.

WTG Pat! Every little bit adds up. I can't believe how fast change can grow into a big sum all of a sudden.

I have had to use ours this year for milk, bread, etc. when DH's hours were cut. It saved us!

I just counted mine. I'm starting over now and saving for our annual weekend vacation to the shore in June. I have $18.77 saved so far.

There is not much at all in mine since we had to use some in December to pay for groceries also. I'm determined to do better though this year!
