We have a free coinstar at our credit union, so we use that. The fees are crazy at the grocery store coinstars.
I don't mind rolling the money, but always forget to get coin roll wrappers. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. The ones around here are "only" 7 cent per dollar, but I still never use them. We always have extra coin wrappers at work and we can alway's use change so if I notice that we are running low on a night that I close I alway's take mine in and just cash it out there

I use them. Why? Because I believe time is money, and I'd rather spent my time doing other things than rolling my change.

I don't use them. I roll my change once a month or so, that way it doesn't take me long at all.

I use the change machine for the pennies only, when I'm separating out the coins. It's 7 cents here, too. Around here, the banks make you buy the wrappers.

I have done both. I like Coinstar because it is quick! I don't like the fees, but it is worth it to me to save the time.
If I don't have alot of change to roll, then I roll it myself.~*Michelle*~

Our bank has a coin counter that is free of charge if you have an account with them. I encourage everyone to check with their bank to see if that service is available.

I always roll my coins. It doesn't take me that long and I can't see saving up the money just to give it to someone. My husband always says that your time is not worth anything unless you are doing something with it, so I just find some down time and roll them.

Believe me if I could keep the loose change long enough I would probably do it as well but since we need the change at work I do mine there. My mil takes her change to those machines and I am sure once I am not working I'll probably do it as well just to save time. For now, I'll keep doing it at work.

I use the one near me all the time. I don't have the time or the desire to roll change. LOL

i'm not sure what the fee is for them around here since dh has been rolling it himself. the ones we used in CT only took 4 cents on the dollar so it wasn't a big enough cut for me to worry about. though i'm sure by now that has gone up.

I recently heard this tip for cashing in change...
Go to a big post office and feed your change into a self-serve stamp machine. These machines give change in the Gold Dollar Coins. Buy one 37 cent stamp (you use stamps, after all, right?) and watch your Dollar Coins roll out after!
I'm not sure if this works or not, haven't tried it, but 37 cents for a whole coin jar sounds better than 7-9 cents on the dollar!
