    Thumbs up Goofs Made Good

Have you ever purchased something that did not "do" what you wanted it to? I'm thinking of consumables here, health and beauty products, or cleaning supplies. Did you use it even though you didn't like it? Did you toss it? Or did you try and come up with another use for it? Of course, whenever possible you should return it to the store and get your money back.

Often I buy something and then am disappointed in it - one thing in particular is shampoo. I recently purchased some Christophe shampoo on sale and neither I nor dd like it at all. We've tried it several times and it makes our hair yucky. So what to do with it? I am currently using it as a bathtub cleaner. Yep shampoo makes a nice bathtub cleaner and it smells good. I've also used it to pretreat a few stains and I think it does pretty good. A little squirt in the toilet bowl and a quick swish with the bowl brush works wonders as well. I know that using shampoo to clean with is not frugal but since this is a shampoo that I would have tossed otherwise, I think it's a good thing.

So what product have you "discovered" a new use for? How are you using things other than what they were made for?

Don't laugh but we "discovered" that Coke with Lemon made a great toilet bowl cleaner! It tastes horrid so we dumped it in the toilet and it cleaned all the stains up really well!

I've heard that Coke can be used to clean car battery connections but hadn't heard about the toilet part. Glad to hear it went to good use.

We bought some off brand peanut butter. No one in the house liked the flavor. I made cookies.
I had the same thing happen with Shampoo. I used it for hand soap and as a pre- treat for clothing.

You know how flylady talks about swishing your toilet every day? Well, she was saying that she uses bath gel or bubbles that she didn't like in the toilet brush holder. I do that now too. Maybe a teaspoon in a couple cups of water. I change it about every 4-5 days. I am using up some grape bath bubbles that my daughter didn't like. Works fine in the toilet.

You can also use about a teaspoon of conditioner, and fill up an empty spray bottle with warm water for no more tangles type spray. I bought a bottle of tangle spray, then refill it that way until the sprayer finally breaks, then buy a new one lol.
