Do you piddle your money away?
Are you always trying to save money but, you never seem able to save any? Perhaps, you never seem to buy anything new but don't seem to have money at the end of the month. I'm sure you've heard of the saying, "small leaks sink big ships."
Some people keep a notebook of all of their spending and are shocked how much of their hard earned money goes into lottery tickets, latte's, magazines and vending machines or for fast food.
Watch out for those small leaks! Keep track of your spending for a while and see where your money is really going!

Guilty here I have been wanting to make a note book but haven't gotten to it yet.

You are so right! I found that when I kept track to the penny, we spent way less because it "hurt" to see it all going out on paper!

This happens to me from time to time and I have gotten better too because of a notebook. If I start to slack in writing thengs down, my budget shows it right away and then I need to pull in the reins agian...just keep going.

Dh and I wrote down our cash spending for a few months last year. We were amazed at how much our money trickled out. We stopped doing it after awhile...I would forget to ask dh and he would forget to tell me and by the time we remembered, too much time had passed.
I think I'd like to start doing it again, though. Even credit card little bits and drops add up.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

I'm guilty of piddling $$ away. I've been trying to keep every receipt and I'm taking a good look at where the money is going.

I'm very disciplined with the routine small stuff. I really don't piddle money like that any longer.
My problem is spending money when a new situation presents itself. If something comes up I hadn't planned for such as "let's go out for a drink!" "Do you want to stop for a fish fry?" "Let's go out this weekend" which I inturprit as "gotta go buy a new outfit" or even having people over for dinner, gotta go get food for a whole meal and of course it's not hamburg it's a roast
THAT's where MY problem lies!! How do you control THAT kind of spending?!?!?!!?

I was reading an article in the newspaper about saving money and it said if we save our money rather then buying lattes and other little piddley things you wouldn't believe how much you would have. I believe it was called the latte factor.
