Default salvaging the ratty crib mattress

we had been through a few crib mattresses before I thought of doing this. instead of running out & spending $30 on a new crib mattress after the baby had found a weak seam and tore the plastic from the one he had, I went to $1 tree & bought a shower curtain liner. I cut the magnet out of the bottom, then folded the curtain in half lengthwise, right sides facing. I then put it on the sewing machine and stitched a seam lengthwise & a seam at the bottom. I turned the mattress "bag" rightside out and slipped the mattress inside, then folded the flap over and secured with strong duct tape. I placed the finished project tapeside down and put a crib sheet on it. the bag is made out of sturdy plastic and wipes easily. Now the only problem was...I needed to come up with a solution for ending my little stinker's fascination with pulling his crib sheet off ....over and over and over again! i'll start a new thread for that idea.
