    Default Shelf Life

    Amy, thanks for the link in Roxie's post about shelf life. I bookmarked that site.

    I was curious though, does anyone have any idea how long OPEN items last? I mean like salad dressings, pickles, salsas, taco sauces and the like? Sometimes I throw things away because I have no idea how long these things have been on my fridge door and I'm afraid of getting sick.

    I'm thinking of putting a permanent marker permanently on my fridge so as to mark down opening dates.
