I had a relapse
Pooh! For some reason my brain clicked off this morning and my hands took over my body and ordered stuff.
Okay, well a bunch of it was seeds and starter sets for my vegetable and flower gardens.
So, in the scheme of things $135 for both gardens is not too, too bad is it? And I will save money in the long run?
I also ordered too needlepoint pillow top kits.
One is a frog, and one a ladybug. DD#1 loves ladybugs and DD#2 loves frogs. They were a little pricey as needlepoint is compared to other needle crafts. But, they'll make nice long term gifts right?
Am I rationalizing this too much? Bah - maybe it is too much coffee or being at home with a kid with pneumonia for 3 days.
HELP!

Cheryl we all fall off the frugal wagon every now and then. Its learning from it and getting right back onto it.
If your feeling really uncomfortable with it, maybe you return some of it. Just a thought.

I'm falling off of it today, right along with you. As soon as I feed myself and change Paige, we are going to be off to TARGET to get the ninth season of FRIENDS on DVD. I have a gift card that I put the money on myself to order my nursery bedding on line, so that will pay for half of it
Besides, I've done really well. I haven't bought any "wants" since I had the baby, just things that we needed.

Cheryl~
We all do it sometimes, and I think your purchases sound perfectly reasonable.
(But FYI, I've been called the Queen of Rationalization by a friend of mine, LOL!) Usually when I fall off the wagon it's not for something so useful-- it's more craft supplies or stationary!
When I splurge on something and I'm feeling very un-frugal, it motivates me to be more frugal on other things. And think of the money you're saving by growing all those veggies yourself....

I agree that if you buy something you want then it makes sense of why you are frugal in the first place - aren't we all saving on what doesn't matter so we can spend on what does matter?
I don't see it as "falling off the frugal bandwagon" , frugality isn't just about not spending money. you have bought things that are both beautiful and useful - what is more frugal than that?
Needlepoint - a hobby, a piece of art and something functional for your children
Vegetables and Flowers - a hobby, certainly beautiful and edible!
These are far from being selfish purchases as many people will be able to enjoy these things. what would be falling off the frugal bandwagon would be to buy these things and not plant the seeds and not use the needlework kits and never to realise the potential of these things.
