    Default paper towel question

Ok, as I am making Alex her p.b. toast this morning I made hers, then whent to make mine. I like butter on my p.b. toast too. She does not. I made hers, then tore off a paper towel to wipe the p.b. off the knife so as not to get p.b. in the oleo. I then got to thinking how wastful of me that was. I am getting ready to do dishes. I could have just as easily gotten out another knife and not wasted the paper towel. Would you have washed the knife or used a paper towel?

Sorry just rambling this morning. I get mad at my laziness sometimes and feel I must confess my sins before my fellow frugalites.

Hon.... it's sunday - you're totally forgiven... no one should work hard at all today!

I would prefer to either wash it or get another knife... but if I'm in a rush or something, a paper towel would probly do...

however, for me it'd depend on the levels in the jars/containers of the ingredients. If the 2nd container you're dipping in is lower then I would probly use a paper towel.

It I think more depends on your daughter... will she taste anything?!?!

If it were me, I probably would have wiped the knife off with a sponge (not a real "wash"). Of course, my sponge is right next to my paper towels. I also wouldn't stress too much about it.

I would have got out a new knife. That is probably why I have a sink full of dishes to wash constantly!

Marcia, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I use paper towels sometimes.

Heck we use the cheap paper plates for our toast & english muffins in the morning. I get them at Walgreens for 79 or 89cents for 100. The time they save in clean up is worth the cost. This way everyone is responsible for their own. cau

Marcia I would have thrown the knife in the sink and gotten another one. It's not a huge deal though and I get your point about the things that go through our minds....

I am embarrassed to say, I would have probably done the same thing and grabbed a paper towel. I am a terrible waster of them, I use them to wipe up spills and water spots on my countertops. I know it is wasteful and I really need to make an effort to be more conscientious about what I use them for though.

I would get a clean knife, but then I have become environmentally conscious of my actions since working for a recycling society for 3 years. We manage the landfill here, and ship the majority of the territory's recyclables for processing to BC.
Before my kids became more capable, I wasted more just because I was busy & tired all the time!
