Question How's the frugal New Year's resolutions going?

How are you frugal New Year's resolutions going? I am proud to say that I am still saving away and I bought some RRSP's (IRA.) I have hardly bought anything from a book store lately. I've tried going to the library with my two year old but that was a disaster. She didn't want to sit and have mommy read to her. She wanted to run around as fast as she could.

Pretty much according to plan. The only change is all the travelling I've had to do with our oldest dd at home for a few months, but otherwise were doing well.

I have been on track, except for one exception. We bought DH a new truck, but he really needed another one. There are no other future purchased in store for us.

I have been putting money into a savings account every pay period. I am so proud of myself because I never did that until this year......AND with YOUR advice Shell!! So thank you!

    Thumbs up

I've surprised myself with how well I've done this year. DH has also done well but he's far more organized than I am so it comes more naturally for him.

I am well ahead in my goal to save £2500 by December 15th, in fact I have saved more this year than I have in my entire life. We have really stuck to our budget and have even had extra money left over at the end of the month to add to our usual amounts.

The only resolution I haven't stuck to is buying clothes. I have had to do this because of one of my other resolutions - I have lost quite a lot of weight already and so I needed clothes as my jeans kept falling down.

It has worked for us because I took a lot of advice that I read here. My goals were clear, realistic,I stated out loud and on paper what they were, I gave them top priority and I was ready to do it, rather than just thinking that it was something that I should do.

Britbunny, Congratulations on losing weight!! My New Year's resolutions have been going great! I have paid off my car like I want to, putting more money in my EF. Trying to have at least one to two days of no spend days. Letting people know that I am looking for certain items. This way I can usually get it free. I just wish I had more money to put in the EF. Starting next week I am going to take some of the money I get from housekeeping and put it in my EF. Also, since the gas has been going up I have been driving less or if I do need something after I get out of work I pick it up since the stores I go to are on the way home.

I'm doing great! I finally realized that we don't need so much stuff and so we are trying to live more simply. Also have been doing great on saving!

We're on track with the home equity loan and will be putting our entire tax return toward it, so I think we'll be doing great.

We're discussing the foyer floor as I type and I think we'll have it laid by the end of April, which was the goal.

As for general savings, not so great. I need to get things back in gear frugal-wise. I've let things go by the wayside and that, to me, is not acceptable.

I'm glad you asked this question. Honestly, I had almost forgotten some of my resolutions. I am doing well with some, while others I have done poorly with. I'm going to go over them again, and set out a plan to achieve them.

I feel that we are on track finally and making the right decisions. I have kept a large portion of our resolutions, but one we have to work on is eating out.
