What are you wearing? (thrift store shopping related)
I was looking over the new posts today and it got me thinking while I was reading a post from a newcomer to thrift store shopping...... . Does anything you have on right now come from a thrift/consignment store or garage sale? Or was it something that someone has worn and given to you?
I'm sitting here in my .25 thrift store bought Hard Rock Cafe ~ New Orleans t-shirt with a pair of Walmart athletic pants. I also have on a pair of $12 Sketcher mules that I got on clearance at Beall's. (I think my pants cost about $12 or so) and then wally world socks and underwear as well.
What did your ensemble cost you?

I have on a lovely pale blue cotton pants with matching top. The top has a few wooden beads sewed on. I got the whole thing for $1 at dd's school yard sale. DD has on a top from a yard sale, cost a quarter I think. We are firm believers in thrift store/yard sale shopping.

Most of my clothes come either from thrifts or eBay...but today I am wearing a black top that was on clearance at Wal-Mart for $1, hubby's socks that probably came from Wal-Mart too, but my jeans were a splurge. They cost me $60 and that was after an online coupon. I hadn't spent that much on jeans since high school but when we got our tax refund I thought "what the heck". I really needed a new pair and I love these. Oh, and my shoes were $3 at Wal-Mart. Undies from Shopko, not sure how much but I know CHEAP, but my bra came from Lane Bryant because I don't get them anywhere else.

I'm wearing a Kmart clearance rack t-shirt, WalMart jeans that I've had for probably five years (I probably paid $16 or so-- can't ever find tall sized jeans at the thrift stores!), and socks from a $1 store ($1 for a pack of 6 pair). No shoes, but, when we were out earlier I was wearing my Kmart cheapo tennis shoes-- I think I paid about $10 for them a few years ago.

Jeans my mommy bought me, a shirt that cost me 5.00, undergarments/socks total 5.00, and shoes i have had for three years, cost me 10.00 at walmart, so pricey i guess if you add the items together, but not too bad concidering how long i have had the shoes, socks, and shirt.

Looking at me and Alex right now everything except shoes and undies came from thrift stores or G-sales. Most of my wardrobe is like that. Funny thing is, is that people are alwasys saying how much they like this or that. I then have to tell them Thanks I got it at a G-sale for a quarter. I guess I shouldn't but I love sharing my deals.

OK, I just got in from work so I'm still in the pricey gear-about $120 for the sweater and pants set (but onlt paid about $65 after season sale and coupon) dress loafers (Aigner-bought at company warehouse store again about 1/2 price @$46) Add another $20 in hose, lingerie etc. I cannot find my size in thrift/garage sales-especially not in work clothes.

Wow, I'm glad I'm not the only one in expensive clothing!
Shirt - J Jill (my favorite store) - $55 (this was given to me as a gift)
Pants - J Jill - $45 marked down to $15
Socks - $2.50 (I only buy trouser socks)
Bra - $9.67 off of eBay, $32 new (VS)
Undies - Free! with coupon (VS)
Shoes - $30, but I have had them for about 3 years now.
Total: $112.17
Most of my stuff isn't this expensive - you picked a bad day to start this thread
I also like to look at the price as amortized over time - if I buy a $10 shirt and wear it for 10 years, then it costs me $1 per year to have it. I can use this with some items (though not all) to justify a higher initial cost.Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

Nothing I have on currently is from a thrift store.
- Old Navy t-shirt (from the outlet) $3.99
- Bill Blass jeans (TJMaxx) $12.99
- Keds mules (not like a sneaker though) (TJMaxx on clearance) $12
The t-shirt I've had for almost a year, the jeans for 5 years, and the shoes for 4 years.
