Didn't really mean to, but it's paid off!
I love my DH. I really do. But apparrantly when a bill collector called with regard to a hospital bill for my son, DH told -- not just told PROMISED -- them we'd pay it IN FULL when our tax refund arrived. I had planned on paying the bill but this bill is too large, because insurance should've paid more than they did -- and I was in the process of getting info together to dispute it.
You can imagine my surprise when they called the other day wanting their money......all $900 of it! I paid it because he had promised them I would -- and he admitted that only after I laid the phone down and asked him outright!
I can see committing to paying a $50 bill without letting me know but $900????? Gee whiz! I had planned on paying our car insurance for a year (or at least 6 months) with that money! Oh well, at least it didn't put us in a financial pinch. And, of course, thank the Good Lord we got a good enough refund to pay the bill! I don't think we'll have trouble making our medical deduction this year considering my hospital stay and other junk.

Oh yes, in these cases I do! They're trying to pawn it off as having gone toward the deductible. Yeah, right, the deductible wasn't met 3 months before when we traveled to Boston and saw 2 Harvard physicians!Originally posted by Mommy2five

Kimmie, I would still fight it and if you get something back, you can put it toward your insurance. It took me 6 months to get our insurance to pay for ds's broken bone in his foot. Luckily, our dr. was nice about the whole thing and we never had to pay out of pocket. Good luck.

Sorry you had to pay such a huge amount! At least you won't have to hear from them again.

I agree. They can reimburse you. I have had insurance companies do that. Not pay, so I paid the doctor's bill (had the money on hand and it wasn't that much) and then go back and get it from the insurance company.

Having just been through the hospital bill thing myself, I understand completely how you feel- I too, would argue with the insurance company to try and lower it- It's certainly worth a try
