Where do you buy your ink cartridges?
We have an older hp deskjet. I have priced them at the stores and the cheapest I can find is $30 for the color cartridge.
I tryed inkcarts.com a couple of years ago and bought one black and one color cartridge. I saved about 30%. The black one was fine, but we had problems with the color one and it didn't last very long at all. I ended up having to buy another new one at the store.

I used to buy them at Amazon, combined with a book or whatever to get over $25 for free shipping.
But I just checked now, and they no longer sell mine direct with the free shipping. The main listing is for J&R Music World, who I've used for other things, but their price is nothing special.
On mine (HP 56 and 57), I went on to the link for new and used and saw some new, sealed box color ones for around $20, a lot less than it would be in Office Max.
I think I'll probably go that route next time, or try Ebay.

I get them at Wal Mart. However, I used an online place to get huge refills of each color and smaller ones of black ink (like pint of each color for $12.95 each) and $8 for about 8 oz of black. I do my own refills and haven't run out of my stuff yet.
My printer is not working right now though.

Someone, I can't remember who (sorry), recommended eBay. I bought my first ones a few months ago and they worked great!! I paid $8.xx for one and $12.xx for the other. I have a HP printer and have had no problems. It would have cost me $29.xx at WM for one!
They were both new cartridges. Make sure you watch for the expiration dates.~*Michelle*~

If you have a Staples ( http://www.staples.com ) close to you, they make cartridges to fit HP printers (thier brand) I have bought them though I don't remember the price, I think about ½ of HP's price and they worked fine both black and the color.
Wish they made them for Lexmark printers, but the company hasn't given Staples permission yet.

Good luck with your quest. We got off the ink cartridge merry go round about 6? years ago & bought a laser printer. Only drawback is it only prints in B&W. We've had to replace the toner once and this is with 2 teens printing out homework & reports. We payed around $250 or so & now they can be had for less than $100. It's a Brother HL1240.

Thank you for the ideas.
We don't have a Staples here.
My dad has a laser printer and loves it. I could get by without color, but DD does a lot of her school projects on the computer and they look so nice and professional with the clip art and colored fonts. The hp cartridges do last a long time, we've had this one since last summer.
I hadn't thought about ebay or going to the hp site. I'll have to check these out.

Do you have an Office Max near you? They often have this one on sale.Originally posted by SewCrafty

I use ASAP Inkjets.com free shipping on every order. I just ordered black and all three colors for my Brother printer, and it cost me $24.88 shipped, for all four cartridges. This is about half the price of Office Max or Office Depot. Fast shipping, too. I got my cartridges in three days.

Update--something else to check. My color ink is running low, and I was about to buy more on Ebay. Not a bad price, but I don't really want to spend the money right now.
I was reading in my printer's help screens about what to do it if went completely dry and I didn't have a spare. I found out if you take out the empty cartridge (either one), it will automatically go to "reserve" mode and work with just one cartridge.
Since I hardly ever really need color printouts, I'm going to stick with one black cartridge for now--maybe forever!

That's what I have been doing for a long time. I usually print only in black so I didn't care. The color was too expensive. My cartridges are Lexmark and Staples doesn't have a generic of these.

I order mine thru the My Points program (email me if you'd like an invite to join, it's great and FREE). Anyway, I get them from 123inkjets and I get 350 points for each order (I redeem my points for gift cards). They are cheaper than anywhere else I've found, and I need B&W and color for my HP printer.
Also, my Mom said that if you take your empty ink cartridges to Office Depot (or Office Max, not sure) they will give you a free ream of white 8 1/2 x 11 paper for each empty cartridge.

I always order mine through Viking Office Supply. www.viking.com
They usually offer free shipping with a $25 order, and it's never taken more than two days for my order to arrive.
If you use them, hunt at some of the coupon code websites first-- Viking often has additional coupon codes that are on top of the free shipping.
