    Default Why is it?

When I try hard to be frugal I end up spending more, but
if I'm not really trying I do better?
Is there a thing called trying to hard to be Frugal .
Does this happen to anyone else?

I know what you mean. A lot of times when I don't think about it I don't spend as much, and as soon as I try and track my spending it just makes me want to spend more (and I occasionally give in). Its not just you!

Glad to know its not just me.
It's like dieting I guess. The more you diet the more you
    want food.

I think it is called "Mind Set", if I am always trying to think of ways to save money I invariably end up spending more!

This is because, I keep looking at the "savings" I would make by buying X Y & Z, which means things I already had, sometimes get overlooked, & not used thus wasting money

SO, my new trick is to have a list of things NOT to buy

Use up what I have, whilst making a list of replacement products I need, which I won't buy UNTIL, I have saved up the money AHEAD of time

Does any of that make sense?

Thats a great way to think about it Karen.
I don't buy much of anything other than food and gas for the car.
I don't need any appliances or big ticket items right now.
Last big thing I got was my dryer and that was given to us by BF's XBIL....
I need to stop buying food. ( Think that will not go over very well with my bunch of eaters )
