Free stuff while on the road
We went on a family trip this weekend to the mountains. I was amazed at the free stuff we got. LOL!
First, we stopped for gas. I went in to pay for it with the gas card. The lady hit the cash button and couldn't figure out how to run it as a charge. I ended up taking cash out to pay for it. Since I had to do that, she gave us 6 donuts, 2 fountain drinks and a pack of gum free. LOL!
Then, we went to Santa's Land - we had free kids passes from the bank where my kids have savings accounts. When we paid, we got a ticket for a free bag of dirt at the Pan for Gold place in town. So, we got to pan for gold free. DD#1 got a HUGE amethyst.
We went to one of the feed the bear places. Big J and DD#2 went in before DD#1 and I did. When we got in, Big J only had $3 and it was $4 for us to get in. The lady just let us go on in.
Of course we got free breakfast at the hotel each morning. DD# 1 won a free game of mini golf for getting a hole in one on the last hole. DD#2 got a play golf set for free.
It was a pretty cool freebie trip! LOL!

I love free breakfast at hotels...I won't stay someplace that doesn't throw it in.
That's great...sounds like you had a lot of fun too.

Great freebies! Isn't it funny... you couldn't have planned on those, so, in a way, they're even better as surprises.

So Cheryl, how was Santa's Land

I can't believe all the years I went to Western, worked at the Harrah's Cherokee Casino and had a great aunt in Murphy I have never once went to Santa's Land....lol

Santa's Land was great! I mean, it's a little pricey like all amusements parks and it is small. But it is perfect for kids the ages of my girls 3 & 7 - they can ride all the rides. There are no height limits (except being TOO tall!). Santa is there year round and they get a Diploma for going to see him. There is a petting zoo, baby bears, magic shows, everything.
If you get a chance to go do it!

Even after we moved from there everytime Joe had his vacation time we would drop off thedog at the inlaws and head up that way. We even honeymooned in Maggie Valley and drove to Cherokee while we were there, one time we stayed in Sylva and then next vacation we stayed in Cherokee (is it bad that we lived there and we still prefer to go there on vacations....lol)
