Frugal to the core
Three years ago we bought some wood to make a bookshelf in the living room. The wood cost $28.
After a year, I decided I no longer wanted the bookshelf.
Dh took it apart and used a couple pieces of the wood to make a couple craft items. Both items sold for $20 - We now have a bit of a profit from this wood of $12.00.
With the wood that was left over, dh then made a shelf in the boy's closet. Last week, I decided I wanted to use another unit of shelving dh had made from scrap wood in the boy's room. We were going to leave the first shelving unit there has well.
Yesterday, a neighbour called dh (she is always getting him to do something) to see if he would make a flower stand for her outside. She didn't want to purchase any new lumber and wondered if he might have some laying around he could use. I asked him, "why not the shelving in the boy's closet". He took it apart and had just enough to make the flower stand. He was paid $35.00 for it.
So from spending $28 originally to making a profit of $47 isn't too bad considering we used the wood for 3 years in some way. The man even re-used the screws so didn't have to purchase any new ones.
Gotta love his frugal ways.

That would be a good entry into the frugal contest.
