Free movies for kids
I have not yet tried this, but AMC theaters has free summer movies for kids. You can check out their program at this link: http://www.moviewatcher.com/promos/summercamp/
Unfortunately, this year, there is no theater really close to us offering the free movies, but we might make a trip to see Lemony Snicket, because my kids are at the age where they would probably enjoy that. (Plus, we don't have air conditioning, so on a hot Wednesday, just sitting in the cool dark for a few hours might be nice!

Thanks!
I heard about this last year, but my youngest was too young to even think of sitting still.
We're going to try this year though. Regal cinemas does this as well. That's what we have in our area.

It's called the REG Free Family Film Festival (say THAT 5 times fast HA!).

That is great! Makes me grumpy that it lasts exactly as long as I'm teaching at camp and can't bring Julia, but maybe I can persuade my Mom to bring her one day.

It's really neat. I wish they hadn't done away with their Reading for the stars program or whatever it was called--for the past few years, the kids read books and get free kids snack packs at the theaters. The free movies are only once a week, and we've seen all but one of them

Maggie,
Thanks for the link to Regal Cinemas - they have a program that is closer to our house. (Unfortunately, I can't seem to find their schedule for the free movies - it keeps sending me to fandango, and then it just shows me their current listings. I figured it out - I just need to search on Tuesdays & Wednesdays, when they offer the free showings...

why do organizers of things like this think that the only people who live in NY live in NYC. Dang!

amy, scroll down the the very bottom of teh fandgo page. the bottom movies that only have a show time of 10 am are the free movies. click on the movie and it will take you to another page that gives a description of the movie and tehre is a date box to the right that drops down to tell you what days the movie is playing.
it through me for a loop too. last year they had a page on their website like amc has that was much easier to figure out.wife to carl
