How did you find the Tightwad Gazette? And when?
I don't remember how I discovered the TG. But I was almost 40 years old.

I had heard of her in a magazine article. I think Family Circle. But I cant honestly tell you how long ago. I have read all three of the books but I need to revisit them. I still do alot of things that Amy would never, ever do..... Like grabbing that magazine when in the checkout line! AUGHHH...WHY do I do that! LOL

I discovered the TG by reading an article in Parade magazine but I've been using her principles of saving money long before I knew about her.

I found out about the book from another site I frequent, but wasnt too interested until I came here
I bought the complete TWG just last Sunday and its very interesting. There are lots of things in the book that I would NEVER dream of doing, but have also found lots I do want to try.
Amy sounds A LOT like my mother...we were VERY poor. My mother was single with 4 children and she did probably 99% of what Amy did and without her frugalty, we would have never made it.

My very frugal sister sent me a copy for Christmas (a 3-in-1 copy) at exactly the time when I needed it. That was 2 1/2 years ago and I still feel like I've only made baby steps, but I love to reread it.

I heard about it a couple years ago online. I finally checked the Complete version out of the library a couple weeks ago. I'm halfway through III and I've really enjoyed it. When we break the 10K mark on our debt, I'm treating myself to my own copy.

In 1998. I was reading a lot of books about homeschooling and so many of them touched on homeschooling on a budget/cheaply. TWG was one of the resources mentioned in several of the books.

I kept seeing it being mentioned at a frugal message board, like this one, and wondered what all the fuss was about. I bought the books, and now I know! Love them!

I heard about it on this board and had to get it, on sale of course!
I already did alot of the stuff but still read it whenever I feel like going on a spending spree..stops me every time!

Found the Complete Tightwad Gazette about 7 or 8 years ago when I was browsing the library shelves for books about living on less money. I was trying to figure out a way to quit work and stay at home...the library was next to my work and at lunch hours I would sit and devour it (well, not quite, I did eat regular food at my desk
) Anyway I used alot of her ideas and loved her sense of humor. I didn't get to stay home immediately...it took me until last year. But I thank Amy for her enthusiasm and I recommend this book to newbies and not-so-newbies at frugality.
And, I freely admit that I don't recycle tinfoil as often as I should
