    Question Kids' Clothes

How much do you spend per year on clothes for your kids if you have them? How many outfits do they have?

If I told you, I'd have to kill you! But I only shop the sales and clearance, so while it's some zany amount, it's not that bad.

They have many, many, maaaaaaaaany outfits.

$100 per child. This includes school clothes. I am lucky that my middle child can fit into hand me downs and we get most of the kids stuff at either Walmart or garage sales/thrift stores. Any other outfits they get are from family for gifts ect. They all still have way too many clothes if you ask me.

I don't know for sure. If I had to guess I'd say 50-100 a year per child. They get a lot from hand-me-downs (love that!) and from a grandma who loves to shop. They each have lots of outfits and wear only 3 or 4. If I had to buy their clothes, that's all I'd buy. After receiving hand-me-down t-shirts from ds1, my ds2 and ds3 each have a crazy amount of those. I should be creative and make a quilt from them!

This is where grandparents come in handy in our house. I probably spend about $75 a year on DS and $150 a year on SS. Shoes are another matter...each gets about $100 a year on those too.

But they are both clothes horses because their grandparents buy them tons.

Honestly... $0. My kids are dressed, head to toe in hand-me-downs from friends and relatives. There are a few Christmas and Birthday gifts thrown in there from aunts and uncles, but honestly, if I spend anything, it's probably under $10 a year per child.

And, just to be clear, Rob and I don't buy ourselves clothes either. We just keep wearing the old stuff and repairing it if need be. (Just so you don't think we make the kids wear hand-me-downs while we're haute couture!

I buy used from Ebay or hand me downs. I would have to guess that I spend between $50-75/yr, and that includes hat, mittens, shoes, etc.

Ok here is how big a dork I am. I was responding to another thread! lol
I guess I spend about $200 on Alex's clothing. That is including footwear which is probably a large chunk of that since
I will only buy leather shoes for her.

My children are grown and gone but I spend alot on my DGD. Probably 500 last year. Alot of it is from garage sales, thrift stores and cosignment shops. Have also gotten quite a bit from clearance sales. But still spend too much...and lets not discuss toys, etc..... I gotta stop!!!

Too much I think. If you include shoes too it has to be around $250-$300 for each child. The only one who wears the hand-me downs is Dakota. Chris can't wear Richard's hand-me-downs because Richard is way too skinny and Chris is muscular and Richard's clothing would be too tight on him.

We don't get hand me downs from anyone and my daughters are so different in shape that my youngest can't wear her sister's hand me downs. My new baby has a ton of stuff from his older brother, so I'm okay there, but I have to buy everything for my older ds. Okay, don't faint, but I spend about $1000 per year on all 4 of my kids, that is with ebaying and such. I do tend to go overboard on them.

About $100-150 a year, including shoes. I buy most of it at end of season clearances the year before. DD can go a week to 10 days before she gets low on clothes, wearing 2 outfits some days....so 20-25 outfits.

I'm not really sure. I purchase primarily from the thrift store for Ally, but supplement with new too. Just shoes/winter boots/rain boots/sandals/sneakers/water shoes/slippers and I'm well over $150 for both children. Add winter coats, snow pants, spring jackets, fall jackets, raincoats and well there's another over $100, but luckily I got both their raincoats at the thrift store and many times their "gear" still fits for two yrs.

Just socks, underwear, bathing suits, and pajamas and I'm over $50 there.

I purchase Zachary 5 prs of pants for school each yr and at least 5 shirts for each season. He needs long sleeved, short sleeved, tank tops, and sweaters.

I can usually find tshirts and a few shirts here and there and pants at the thrift store.

Ally needs the same, but I'm able to find tons for her at the thrift store, so don't need to purchase as many new clothes to supplement for her.

Just a guess, but I can easily see over $400-500/yr. We don't receive any clothes from relatives though either.

My kids aren't dressed fancy at all either, but they do own a considerable amount of clothing. They wear them all though.

*edited to add* That today I found two tshirts clearanced at walmart for $1/each for Zachary. I bargain hunt like you wouldn't believe, but it's still costly to clothe them.
