    Default Laboratoire Karen-Yeah! (Long!)

The Intro will only sound remotely funny if you are all familiar with "Laboratoire Garnier" Products

I have been back using myself as a Guinea Pig again

You may remember that I had been using Aloe Vera Gel as a Hair Conditioner? ( after shampooing hair, rinse and comb through a blob of Aloe Vera Gel, comb through hair and rinse off)

OR wash hair and towel dry, then rub a small amount into your fingers, then "finger comb" your hair then dry and style as normal.

Righto! Well, I have been trying out skin creams on my hair too

Hair and skin are very similar in their moisture needs

The Advertisers and Manufactures would have you believe that you need a milllion different products, WRONG!!

They are brain washing the money out of your wallet by selling you a lifestyle

I have tried Coconut Body lotion and Jason Aloe Vera 70% moisturizer on my hair and it works wonderfully well!

    For very Dry hair:
Wash Hair as normal then comb through a dollar sized blob of cream through your hair using a wide tooth comb, RINSE off and dry as normal.

Normal Hair ( or worried the first time .....)
Wash Hair and towel dry gently, take a very small amount of cream and rub into fingers, then "finger comb" the hair.

Then use a wide tooth comb to distribute the cream all over the head, dry as normal

I Colour my hair and I find that a small blob on my fingers, AFTER washing is just fine, my hair is beautifully soft and Hairdressers often tell me what good condition my hair is in

WHY am I doing this? because I am trying to use fewer products ( saving space, money, the planet and I love proving ( if only to myself) that we ( the public are not ALL gullible enough to buy every beauty product that hits the shelves

Another Frugal truth is, use Hair shampoo as shower soap/body wash, I use a gentle shampoo ALL over I have VERY dry sensitive skin ( This English Rose Complexion has a lot to answer for ) I have NEVER had a problem doing this and Dh is following all my Frugal examples without any problems too!

DON'T use Shower Gels on your hair, they will be too harsh ( unless it is a meant-for- babies formula).

Your skin is tougher than your hair, so Hair products on skin are fine. ( Bad hair days? Yes?! Bad skin days? not so often!)

I will soon have less clutter in the Bathroom and when travelling the Aloe Vera/Body Lotions can double up alongside the shampoo as hair AND body shampoo, less waste, more space

I would love to hear what you think!

Remember I am experimenting so YOU don't have to!

    Karen

WTG! I think it is great!!! When my DFIL was ill, he had to be washed/bathed quite often. The doctors office told my MIL to use liquid dishsoap such as Dawn or Ivory. If it is gentle enough for your hands it is gentle enough for your skin was their advice. It sure helped since he needed showered several times a day. And his skin was soft, smooth and did not have any sores or rashes on it.

I love your ideas Karen. I'm gonna try some shampoo in lieu of bodywash over the course of the next few days and see if I concur with your analysis of it for that purpose. I have VERY dry skin so I'm curious.

I do this too! ALso, this may sound strange but it works, use a hair conditioner as an in-shower moisturizer like those expensive ones made by Oil of Olay. It will leave your skin silky and there will be no need for lotion.

    Love your tips!

P.S. In the morning, I wash my face with aloe vera gel - very cheap and since I'm not removing makeup it works fine.

Okay Karen I have to say, since reading your post yesterday, I used my conditioning shampoo as body wash this morning because some one (Ahem, DH!) forgot to replace the bar of soap! It was very moisturizing and my legs feltgreat after shaving, still do! Thank you for the tips and being a "Guinea Pig".
