Question What's the price of sugar in your area?

I read it and coffee was going up. However I didn't realize it was going up as much as it did.

Normally, 10 lbs. of sugar here, on sale sells for $2.99. This week sugar is on sale - 10 lbs. for $5.99. Thats ridiculous.

We don't drink coffee so I don't have a clue if that has gone up or not.

I just bought 5lbs this morning, and it was $1.99, that's up about $0.50 or so. I'm not sure because I haven't bought it for a while. I remembered thinking that that was really high when I put it in my cart.

Oh, and that's the store brand...I'm not sure how much Domino sugar was.

Good grief --- thanks for the heads up. I'll hopefully be able to get some before the price goes up locally. I haven't paid attention so don't know what it is currently in this area.

I bought 10lbs. for 3.99 on Sunday. We have a Amish market that is 40 miles from me that sells items in bulk.

I'll find out next week. I haven't bought any in over a year, then it was on sale for 99c for 5lbs.

Coffee, last time I bought it (over a month ago) it was two 35oz cans for $6.99

I hav been paying lots of attention to foods and other products that have gone up as well!

I was able to get sugar as a loss leader last week for $.99 for 5 lb. with a limit of three. So I bought 15 lbs. We don't use a lot of sugar and normally use unprocessed honey and maple syrup as sweeteners in baking and cooking, but these are the items that have gone up in price here locally. Honey is $5.99 a lb ($1 more than 6 months ago) and Maple syrup is up to $9 a pint.

It was on sale around here last week (at Price Chopper) for $1.28/ 5lb bag, IIRC- I might be off by about .10, though. According to my price book, the cheapest I can normally get it is $1.58/ 5lb.

I stocked up last week, needless to say.

The price of the coffee I buy has fluctuated a lot over the last few years. I buy whole bean coffee in 900-g (approx 2 lb) bags. The regular price is sometimes as low as 5.99, right now it's 7.89. It was on sale at another store for 6.79, so I loaded up on it. I don't anticipate the price coming down.

Wow, I guess sugar is cheap here. The regular price of sugar at my local discount store is 1.53/2 kg. That's 4.4 lbs, and that price would be about $1.30 USD.

10 lbs. for $5.99. Thats ridiculous.
I'm paying between 12$-16$ for a 22lb bag of sugar.

Food is so expensive in the north and I'm not as far north as many. I wait for a sale (10-12$/22lb) and buy a few of them. By the time Iget to the last bag I'm chipping it off in chunks with a hammer and a knife because it's so damp in our area after a year and a half I'm still not used to the prices.

at Price Chopper today it's $1.69 for 5lbs. It's probably 20-50 cents cheaper at the commissary though.

I buy mine in 10 kg. bags (22 lbs.). Safeway had it for $11.59 last week. Superstore had it for $5.88, limit of one. I went back a couple of times to stock up for the year.
