Default Saving $ on 4-day workweek

I think I posted in the wrong place earlier!
    Debbie

Saving $ with my 4-day workweek
I just started it this week but think I will love it. I work 10 hour days Tuesday - Friday. Less gas for the commute!

It is also helping my biggest downfall - meals out. I just have a half hour lunch so I am bringing something from home everyday. It's really not as hard as I thought it would be. I made a huge skillet of Dirty Rice with Sausage that will see me through several meals. I also bought some Lean Cuisines to stick in the office freezer for days I forget my lunch or have no leftovers.

Monday I spent the day buying rebate items, couponing, cooking, and running errands I don't normally have time to do. It was so wonderful!

This may seem silly BUT we are allowed to wear jeans to work on Friday so having to wear career clothes just three days a week helps the wear and tear on the work wordrobe.

I highly recommend a 4-day workweek to anyone considering it.

I just LOVE this idea --- even a 4 day school week! I wonder if it will catch on? Maybe with the gas crunch it will.

Its not an option where I'm working now, but maybe someday.

what a great way to cut down on travel and lunches while still working your full week. The extra day off is the icing on the cake. WTG!

I think just the savings on panty hose will add up! The cost of those things just kills me when I put my fingers right through them!

I just started a new schedule and although it's not as common as the 4- 10 hour days...

I work 21.5 hours one week and 58.5 the following week on a weird 12 hour schedule. I love it, more time with family, less wear and tear on the car, and saving on gas and fast food.

I would love to see schools changed to a "condensed" week.

I didn't even think about less wear and tear on the car - that's a good point.

Yesterday I rescheduled all errands and dr's appts, etc. to my off-day so I'm saving leave time as well.

I live 25 minutes from my job but I work week-ends. So, I leave Friday at 2p and return Sunday at 9p. I sleep over and I car pool every other week-end. I do my 40 hrs and then have the week off.

That's interesting . . . do you have a free place to sleep over? Do you just nap and work almost continuously?

I would LOVE to do this, thought it isn't an option at my job right now. I'm away from home almost 11 hours a day, 5 days a week. If I could work 4-10 days, I could cut commuting time in half. To have an extra day for errands and appts would be wonderful!

    DH has a 2-week schedule.

One week, he works 4-9 hour days plus 1 8-hour day (44 hours). The next week, he works 4 9-hour days (36 hours) and gets Friday off.

    I like it.
