Garage Sale was Bust!
We didn't even make back the $15 we had to spend to register for the darn thing!
I think the problem is that we live in a section of town that is, apparently, called "the hill" because we live on, well, a huge hill. (My street is off of Mountain Way if that helps paint the picture)
Anyway, it was a town-wide garage sale, so everyone started shopping "in town" at sales and then got worn out and never made it up the hill.
The bright side was, as I explained to dh, that we really didn't have too much to sell to begin with which means that since our garage sale last year, we really haven't brought too much "crap" into the house. I was pleased with that. For the big items (tv, microwave, printer) I'll put up a sign at school. I also put together a box for the consignment shop of nicer stuff. I put together a box to donate to my church bazaar. I'm trying to sell the videos online, and the books will be brought to a local bookstore that gives you store credit for used books. Everything else...to the curb.
Still, not even making back the $15 ticked me off! Especially since I sat out there all day with one of the worst colds I've ever had and I can't take anything for it!
Oh well...maybe next time!My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com

Sorry you had such a bad time with your sale. We live just slightly out of the main path of the garage sale loop, and we get a little less traffic, but we still do okay.
But you're right about not having much to sell- that is a good thing!!!
Drink lots of nice tea- hope you're feeling better soon!

So sorry it did not work out for you. I know what you mean though, I live in a very rural area so a garage sale would not work well for me! I might try to set up at a flea market next spring. It will take me all winter to clean out the closets and organize all the stuff to get rid of! LOL11

Sorry to hear your sale was a bust. Sounds like you have a great plan for the "leftovers". I hope you feel better very soon.

We made $20 at our last garage sale. I think it will be our last. We had 5 people come to it. We donated everything to charity afterwards.

Oh so sorry Amy. Hope your cold is better soon. HUGS and hot tea.
I quit doing garage sales a while back, the effort I expended never came close to making the miniscule profit worthwhile.
For me, I'm just glad to get rid of it, and now I donate it fast and furious to the local charity that feeds and houses the downtown men and women homeless. I feel like it's doing some good for them to sell something to someone who needs it and I know where the money goes then, it's to a place I'd donate cash to anyways.
Don't feel bad. You are doing great.

Sorry you are under the weather.
I feel much the same way as others do about garage sales. I now free cycle everything. It is much easier. Anything I think might be worth something goes to the consignment store.

Amy, sorry your not feeling well. Hope your feeling better soon.
I too quit doing garage sales. I donate everything now rather than going through all the trouble of a yard sale. I have mostly stopped shopping at them even. I'd far rather go to a thrift store.
