Do You Refuse to Pay the Price?
Do you refuse to pay the asking price for certain items and if so what are they?
I refuse to pay over $1.00 for a 2 litre bottle of soda, I refuse to pay over .50 for a can of tuna, over .75 for a bar of Dove or Oil of Olay soap, over $1.99 for butter. I wait for these to go on sale and then I stock up. I refuse to pay over $2.00 for a box of cereal, and I refuse to pay full price for toothpaste.
I also refuse to buy most bakery items as I'm a trained pastry chef and feel I can do a much better job on my own.

let me see...I only buy soft drinks on sale...99ยข 2 liter or $2.50 or less for a 12 pack, never full price for toothpaste as it ends up free or almost free with double coipons, never pay full price for cereal..always use coupons, sales, and stock up.
Laundry detergent....Although I like Tide and Gain I wont pay full price for those. I wait till sales and use coupons or buy a cheaper brand.
I'll come back if I think of anymore.

I refuse to pay any amount of money on soda. I just can't justify it.
I do refuse to pay over 3.98 for 28 count/20oz. bottles of water. I buy the Sam's choice and refuse to pay a fortune for any thing different.
I refuse to pay full price for toilet paper. I use the coupons when I have them and stock up. For instance, our Ingles here just had a sale on Scott toilet paper. You were saving $3 just from their sale on a 12 rolls pack, plus I had several $1 off coupons..so I saved $4 for a 12 pack. I bought up 3 packs and we should be good for awhile.
I refuse to pay full price for cereal also. I don't buy it unless its buy one get one free and even for me to buy it then, I have to have a coupon to still ofset the price I am paying for it.

I refuse to pay the price for soda, coffee, cereal, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, ice cream, convience foods such as boxed potatoes and the like. I can get these much cheaper or in many cases almost free with double coupons. And I dont buy convience items unless they are on sale and I have coupons to match. But I do buy ALOT of groceries since I am trying to stockpile and keep things always full, full, full

I refuse to pay sticker price on any furniture item, appliances (large and small), a home or a car.
I refuse to pay the price for any item at a yard sale. I dicker the price down or I walk away.
For grocery items I refuse to pay the full price for: Tide, any type of meat, shampoo, toothpaste and tp. I try to purchase only items on sale when I grocery shop.
And I refuse to pay full price for any clothing item. I will purchase them at the thrift store or wait until there is a good sale, usually year end sales.

I will NOT pay over 2.00 for a box of cereal. Right now I have a bunch of .50 bags of cereal under my bed! OTOH, I need some sugar free cereal (I have been eating oatmeal for DAYS and am tired of it) and puffed wheat isn't on sale, so I amy pay about 2.50 for a GIANT bag of it.
I pay about .50 or less for toothpaste. I bought deoderant today for .24 (got two!). I agree about TP--it's necessary, but I also buy it on sale with coupons.
To REALLY save money on a car, wait until it's about two years old. You will knock at least 30% off the retail new price.

Back a year or two ago, a bottle of vanilla at Sam's Club was $19.88. No kidding! I needed it, but refused.
Let's see. We never buy name-brand soft drinks. I rarely buy beef not on sale. I buy cereal at a great discount at one of those dent/bent stores and freeze it. Otherwise I won't buy name-brand cereal at regular prices. I don't buy bottled water, period. I don't know when I have bought clothes not on sale.

Honestly, I do not pay full retail for anything. If it is not on sale or discounted, I don't buy it. I have learned to be very patient, and eventually it goes on sale...not only that, it gives me time to think about if I really need it or not. My husband thinks I am crazy.....for instance...we need milk...it's not on sale so I am not buying it. lol!

I refuse to pay full price on ANYTHING! I absolutely refuse to pay for bottled water, bought a faucet filter to fill my own bottles. And my biggest pet peeve are those membership stores where you have to pay to shop. I couldn't anyway because all of them are too far. But I have visited them with a relative and realized I do soooo much better w/coupons and shopping locally! I know it works for some, so please no offense intended. Not everybody does the "coupon thing" either. It's just not what I find worth doing personally!

DH is sitting next to me hee up on the bed and we are both reading the posts on this topic. He looks at me and I look at him and at the same time say "Livestock Feed".
That's it. Nothing else we buy is full price and hasn't been for a very long time. If it's not on sale we don't need it bad enough to buy.

I too try to find the big jugs of soda for no more than a dollar each.
I also try hard to pay less than a $1 per 4 pack of tp

I refuse to pay more than $1 for cereal (very possible at Weis with their deals on name brands), I refuse to pay more than .99/lb for grapes, more than .33 for soap (because I can get a 3pl at the Dollar Tree), that's all I can think of right now!

I refuse to pay any price for soda (sugar water).
I also refuse to pay for sugar cereals. DH can get a box of Raisin Bran or Cheerios out of me once every 3 or 4 months, but that's it, and it's generic. We have lots of other alternatives in the house, including homemade granola (I refuse to pay the price for the storebought stuff). He's not hard done by. There's lots to eat here.
I refuse to pay the price for a new car...except...sigh...maybe a hybrid or electric in five years or so...

One of the reasons I am in so much debt is because I would pay full asking price for anything that I wanted... even with the banks money. argh. Right now I am in the process of making a price book so I know when things are actually a good deal and it is my goal to attempt to buy things only when they are under the regular price. I am also going to start following in my mothers footsteps and only buy clothing from the sales racks. It will take some more time and patience on my part, but I know that if I would have just waited 3 weeks on some clothing purchases I would have paid 70% less than what I actually paid.

I rarely pay full price for anything. There never seems to be a sale on milk though so I do buy that full price. If I have to buy something not on sale I'll get the cheapest genaric version they have.
I don't like to ask for less at a yard sale than what's on the sticker unless it's a big item. I just don't feel right about it.
