Could you use one of those pads, gripper pads I think they're called, that keep the rug from slipping?

I wonder if there's a spray-on product at a home store like home depot that would re-create a gripy surface.
Or, I'd say use the gripy mats....I got one at walmart awhile back.

Yes, those gripper mats. I got mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond, or maybe Linens & Things. They're designed specifically to go beneath rugs. You could buy a large one and easily cut it down to fit many of your scatter rugs.

Once your rug is completely shot, you can also donate it to the local animal shelters. They always need them for in animal cages and the like. Also old blankets, etc are usually welcome.

but not until you have gotten all the life out of it that you want to!

Also, could you roll it up, secure it with bands or pretty ribbon and use it as a door/window draft stopper? Just a thought..

I use mine as bedding for our outdoor cat's house in the winter time. It helps keep her warmer and I don't feel so guilty for throwing it away when summertime comes around.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

You can also buy gripper TAPE. That is what we use under all our area rugs.

MICHAEL'S sells this stuff in a squeeze tube that will make things non-slip I'm not sure what it's called but it's in the section where the glue's are & the paints aisle.

I found it awhile ago it shows a pic of all the ways you can use it. One I remember was making non-slip soles on your socks.

I'll check the next time I go there probably tomorrow or Saturday I got another 40% off coupon which I need to use for more scrapbooking stuff!

This thread had reminded me that I need non-slip stuff on a few rugs. I"ve been putting off washing them because the rubber is so bad....I'll maybe see if I can get to Michaels.

You can use them on top of your carpeting to hide stains.

The rug gripping material is also sold as shelf liner and is much cheaper as shelf liner. Most discount stores have it and and it's great for hall runner rugs.

if you get the shelf liner to use as gripper, you may want to tack it to the rug with a couple of quick stitches of thread if possible. i have found that with my kids, i need to stitch it to the rug so it doesn't get displaced.

It's a craft store. I buy most of my scrapbooking & other crafts there especially when they have 40% off coupons, some holidays are 50% off coupons & 60% off (this is the 1st time I've seen a 60% off about a week ago.)

I went there on Saturday it was a quick trip in the I had 2 40% OFF coupons my friend Kristel gave me one & the other was mine from the weekend circular I bought the FISKARS paper cutter it's purple & has an angle thing. Regular price was $39.99 I soo wanted to get this last time w/the 60% off but they were on sale for 33% off & none were left.

The only bad thing w/using coupons there sale items you can't use them with.

The other one I used on a Journaling stamper w/the ALPHABET on it Reg. $14.99

I bought a few clearance items, paper punches, beads, etc.

I finally found & used my $50 giftcard I got for my Birthday last year I bought the FISKARS w/this & have $26.00 left!

I checked quickly in the glue/paint aisle & didn't see the non-skid tube stuff. The moved stuff around since the last time I saw it there...maybe moved it to the sewing area.
