Tough times
for so many people, including myself and I'm scared. Everything is just so expensive and I feel I have no control.
I no I can get it back her but I haven't posted in a long while. I miss all the help, support and info. this board has to offer.
In the last several months we have had lots of unexpected expenses and our savings has gone done the tubes. I need to rebuild and find some security for our family in these trying times.
Happy to be back!

I know exactly where your coming from. The lemon of the car I had the engine was going out. So, had to get another car!
I had to rebudget my budget. Hope to see where I can cut. Have cut down to the bone as it it. To keep my heat bill down I have put up plastic on my windows, weather stripping around the doors, and keep the heat off. In the morning I may turn it on for about 5 minutes to warm up the house, but after that everybody better dress warmly! I still have an EF but I pray to God nothing comes up unexpected!

welcome back and warmest hugs!!!! I don't even count how many times I've climbed back on the frugal bandwagon after falling off. It's been a lot. Don't be scared to dust yourself off and climb back on, with a lot of support from all of us here.

Ugh, I know what you mean, I'm feeling a little uneasy myself lately. I have control issues though and lots of expenses are out of my control right now, and will be for quite a while. Then I think about the rising costs of everything and I just feel like
.
Anyway, glad you found your way back . It sure helps me to read everyone's post and gain inspiration and motivation from them.It helps me stay on course and keep going each day lately. So welcome back !

Just to add to my welcome, we too thought that we had just got a hold on finances, when we blew a head gasket and cracked a head in the Tbird... It is setting us back 2400 dollars... We had to get a loan from the bank, which we will pay off with our tax refund... It never seems to fail, we just pull ahead and then there is an expense we were not prepared for.... I think that everyone has thier moments, and they finally get over the hurdle... I mean if we didn't our world would be a very different place...

Thank you!
you all have such great hearts, this has to be the most welcoming board I have ever come by....truely!
I also can feel your pain...those gosh darn car repairs....yikes
It can really change things fast in a budget.
Our transmission went this summer....so that was an unexpected
$2,300. :-( Happy to say, we didn't have to charge that expense but have felt the pinch.
Best wishes to all of you.
Again.it awesome to be back.

Welcome back happymommy.
I'm feeling the same way. DH lost his job in September and can't seem to find one that fits since then. I don't mean he's just being choosy, there are real concerns about distance (meaning gas money mostly), hours (or lack thereof), and the job he currently has will slow significantly after Thanksgiving (he didn't know that until his first day of work).
Meanwhile, prices keep going up and there aren't enough jobs out there to begin with. We live in an area that has a pretty good unemployment rate and it's still tough.

I understand completely! Dh has not had a job since Feb.2004 and he is now in school full time retraining. And life continues to happen even if there are no wages. We are living on student loans and we have barely enough to cover the basics if nothing goes wrong. Ha, try broken water heaters, blown engines, very ill dogs, broken computors, cars that won't pass air care & these were only a few of our "surprises" in the past year. I have learned the meaning of breathing deeply and prayer, those things along with the people and ideas on this board sustains me.

Welcome back and nice to meet you.
I, too, feel scared about this coming winter. I know we will be buying a house which means mortgage, property taxes etc. Then, with the rising cost of everything, I feel overwhelmed. I really love this forum. Strength in numbers!Tamara
