    Default Printer Ink

It seems to go too fast!! Just bought some not even a month ago and I'm already getting warnings that I'm low. Grr... Am trying to print a 'family favorites' type cookbook as a Christmas gift but that ink is just draining me money-wise. Anybody got an ideas? I tried refilling once and it wouldn't accept that and wound up having to buy a new cartidge anyways. At $20 a pop this gift is getting expensive. Will I be reduced to *gulp* handwriting all this out? Help

I don't have any suggestions. Ink can be so expensive. I have 2 printers and I am constantly buying ink for both. The only thing I suggest is don't buy the refills (thingy) it will actually mess up your printer. It did to one of my old ones! It is the worse thing out there

Pammy, when I was working in my publishing business I found this was the most cost effective way to print. Print out an original master copy in the best quality your printer will print, and take it to a copy shop for printing. Remember to phone around first to get the best deal. The more copies you have to print the cheaper it will be. You could also save the file to a CD if you know that the print shop has the same program. They have all the popular ones.

You can also buy recycled cartridges that are usually cheaper than new ones. Also places like Office Depot and Office Max give away a ream of paper when you drop off an old printer cartridge. But there are ones they don't accept like Epsons like I used to have. I know this doesn't save ink but it does save on money spent on paper, and it all comes out of the same kitty anyway, eh?

Island Ink Jet is a chain of little outfits that sit in the middle of malls and refill your printer cartridges with black or colour inks.

They work great, do all kinds of brands, but I don't know if they are just Canadian.

They are great. Look for those kiosks in the malls and see if there is an Island Ink Jet.

I have good luck purchasing new cartridges on eBay. I have usually gotten them at at least 1/2 of what I would have paid locally including shipping.

Years ago we bought a black & white laser printer, one of our best buys. In high school the kids had so many papers to print & it really was the way to go. The toner cartridge is what you replace and we are on our second one ($45?)since we bought it over 4 years ago. Want color, they got their colored pencils out, lol.

Hey, thanks for all the great tips!! I do have a color printer, but the color only lasted about one refill. The second color catridge I bought still sits in there new, it won't accept that one, either. I now set my printer to print everything black and white.

Will check those sites, see if it's gonna work for me. Sometimes being in rutal Oklahoma sucks, lol, as we don't have all the better options available. Ahh.... what wouldn't I do without my net to find things?? lol

    Thanks again!!

    Thanks Margery.

I wonder why Office depot won't take Epsons?

I will try, try again. Went hunting on ebay. Why is it so many are selling empty cartridges?? *scratches head* Is if for the free paper? Anyways, will try to refill it myself again. Less than $6 for what looks to be 2-3 refills compared to $20 a pop, gotta try it again.
