loss leaders?

I keep seeing posts about loss leaders. Its not a term I have heard before, can someone explain. sorry for the stupid question!!

There is no such thing as a stupid question-especially w/ frugality

Usually loss leaders are found on the front and back pages of the store flyer. these are items that the store is willing to take a "loss" on so that they can entice you to buy other items at their store. Become a "cherry picker" which is only buying the loss leaders at a more expensive store and buying the remainder elsewhere--as long a syou are not driving out of your way to save money. Thanks for asking because we always have a mix of newer frugals in with the old timers and it's one of those questions that needs asking regularly, so that the newer ones in here can understand what the tip is all about.

After all, no point in sharing, if the newer member goes away shaking her head saying HUNH????

So you go right on asking, be assured that for your one question there were another bunch of shy lurkers, who were wondering and too scared to ask.

I'd like to just comment that if you have a question, ask away, this isn't the kind of place where people are flamed or put down for not knowing.

We try to make it a safe place to ask questions, learn, share our knowledge and make it a place where it's comfortable to hang out.

There are vast geographic distances involved, and the terms for something in one area are completely different in another.

So if you wonder, don't be afraid, just ask.

Your question will help out a shy member who was afraid to, and was unable to access the information we all hold, because she didn't know that term.
