    Default Door Socks Question

I remember growing up, my parents having a long sock for the bottom of the doors. If I remember correctly, they came out with dogs and decorative ones. I'm thinking of making them for my doors. Can anyone share if they work, how they would make them. I'm thinking dryer lint and rice? Thanks,

    Marianne

Are you referring to draft stoppers?

I make mine with fabric scraps and kitty litter for the filler

I make mine from rolled up bath towels or bath sheets (old). They are handy for mopping up ice and slush that melts into muddy puddles in the entry way and yes they do work.

The prettier ones would work too, but I never got round to making one. Somehow with the kids and dogs and the avalanche of snow melt, dirt etc it was always easier to just toss them into the machine and put a fresh dry one out as needed.

I'm no seamstress but I made two from very simple neutral fabric I bought for almost nothing. I filled them with rice and they work great.

I am going to make 2 of these. With heating cost this winter going throught the roof. I think I will try the kitty litter. I am afraid to use rice because I dont want to attract mice wich I have had probem with in the past. I have a bag of balsam needles that I might try also. thanks for the links

I had a couple old rugs that were going to be thrown out. I rolled them up into a tight roll, secured them with a rubber band, and viola, instant draft stopper. When they are a mess I can unroll and wash or I can finally toss them out.

I do hope to eventually make a couple of these however I just have not gotten around to it
