I did this. My kids ages 3 and 5 were also getting credit card offers weekly. Why, you might ask? Cause they have frequent flyer numbers - for visiting grandparents. It has drastically reduced the junk mail coming in.

Then this is a legit site? Not just a 'phishing for information' site?

I was wondering about it's legitimacy also. I'm cautious about any internet site asking for my social security number.

I wouldn't enter your soc # on a site if you don't know it is authentic. That is very risky! You shouldn't have to give out that number to get off the mailing list. Be careful!

    Thanks, Darlene.

Snopes also seems to endorse it:

Taking advantage of the "one-stop" opt-out option [by calling (888) 567-8688 or visiting the Opt-Out Prescreen web site] to prevent the major credit reporting agencies from making your credit information available for pre-approved offers of credit or insurance will also go a long way towards significantly reducing the amount of junk that ends up in your mailbox.
