Default Get rid of catalog temptation ...

Instead of browsing the catalogs that come to our house in droves, I've started calling the 800 numbers on the back and asking to be taken off their catalog list. I find that even if I never buy stuff from a certain catalog, it just feeds to spending desire for something similar. My cousin used to call them "wish books". But my goal is to decrease my wishing and thus my spending. Plus it is good for the environment not to print and deliver them.

We do almost the same thing. However, rather than bringing them home, we deposit them in the recycling bin at the local post office. It's a great way to stop the kids from wanting, wanting, wanting too.

    Great tip!!

I throw them away as soon as I bring the mail in.

I was just going to post that we're being inundated with catalogs for the holidays. I've been tossing them in the recycling bin here.

I enjoy looking at catalogs, but it's so true...they just stack up and are wishlists for me. I can't even begin to tell you how many I received in just the past two weeks.

King Arthur Flour catalog came and had me drooling. I tear out the pages of stuff i might be able to get better prices on, otherwise i toss the catalogs out.

I tossed for years until I realize that I should stop them from coming in the first place - environmental reasons as well as lightening the load on our dear postal carrier. As well as not have the companies waste their money and thus pass on those expenses to their buying customers.

We're on lists for things that we would never use - stuff for private pilots and horse catalogs. I know how we got there - my neice was riding years ago and I bought her a Christmas gift. My husband had some certifications to do for work, but he only sits in the back of the airplane and doesn't know how to fly!!
