I tend to make "the milk run" at a convenience store. A lot less temptation and, locally, is no more expensive than the grocery.

I solved the milk run by buying milk at a dairy...cheaper around here by at least a dollar.
I'm going to try to clean out the pantry between holidays.
I've decided though to just try my best until Jan. 1. There's too much holiday stuff to contend with for me.

But the $4 at the convenience store is wayyy cheaper than the $30 at the grocery store!!! And since you know the prices are way too high, you aren't tempted to "just get one more thing".
My solution is to ask DH to pick it up on the way home. He refuses to use a cart or basket and does not like to shop at all.
So unless it is on a list and is 3 items or less, he wont do it. But that does mean that he really sticks to a list.

Sounds like a really good plan!! I am also really bad about running to the store for milk and ending up buying way more than just the milk!!!

I think I might also plan to try this starting in January!!
