A Quick Problem
DH and I opened a brand new bottle of wine for dinner tonight and the cork broke when we were taking it out. The wine is not damaged at all, but now we have no sealer for it. Does anyone have any suggestions for what I can do to keep it from being spilled and a way to seal it for later use?

We bought a wine topper at the dollar store. It acts as a plug, a plastic cork if you will, to keep the air out of the wine. It works pretty well too.
If you have one for a soda bottle, that may work depending on the width of the bottle opening.

I've used plastic wrap, several layers, very tight with an elastic band, but the wine should be drunk ASAP. It was good for about a week, after that, I don't know how long it would have kept if dh and I hadn't put it out of it's misery.

Well, you could always have a really relaxing night and just finish off the whole bottle!

And if you don't use it up quickly and it gets crappy, you can always use it for cooking. Chicken cacciatore is fantastic with a splash of wine after you sautee' the vegetables.
