Default How My Emergency Fund Came In Handy

    My computer blew up!

Being the net junkie I am, that was an intolerable situation. I solved the problem frugally: I knew that the only problem was with the motherboard, so instead of shelling out for a whole new system, I just shopped around for a bare-bones box and plugged in my old peripherals, floppy drive, CD drives, and hard drives. For about $300, I got a faster machine and I've kept all of my old information and files.

Moral of story: try to get an emergency fund established. Moral 2: consider learning about the care and feeding of your machines, be it the car, computer, etc. Knowledge virtually always pays off.

Whew! I know that I would be lost without my computer! Glad you had that extra bit to help you out. You're right, knowing your machines definitely do save you money.

Oh my! I would go nuts without my computer. Glad you had the knowledge to fix yours, and recycle those old parts instead of chucking the whole thing. Way to Go
