Unhappy I'm a great big quitter!!

I have to back out on my grocery challange.  I've done TREMENDOUS!!!, though.    I'm very proud of myself.  I was going to make it.

BUT!!!  I've got the DH talked into going to visit my *dearest* friend in Oklahoma.  We're leaving on Wednesday.  I haven't seen her for almost a year.

The reason I'll spend more on groceries is because I'm bring food down there.  They live "off grid" for real....NO electricity, and they don't have refrigeration, so I want to bring fresh stuff.......dairy, veggies, and fruits.  I'm making a trip to the store today to stock up on several things to take.   I *could* just take what I have.....canned & frozen, but I'd like to bring fresh, since that's a treat to them (well, other than what they grow themselves.  )

Plus, I'll get a little candy & dried, more exotic fruits for the kids......and I can't forget soda pop.  It'll be a treat for all of us.

DH did a cash job last weekend, so the money's there...that's not an issue.....we may dip into the emergency fund, too...for gas.....so I'm a big quitter on that, too.

I've written her a letter & she should receive it on tuesday....just enough time to prepare for us, but not enough for her to get to the store & buy a bunch of stuff.....I don't want her to spend her limited budget for food for all of us.  She would if she knew we were coming any sooner.    I love her....she's the greatest.

So, I'll come back refreshed, relaxed, and hands full of homemade goodies like soap, breads, salsa, and maybe a quilt if she's finished it.

So, I'm backing out on the challanges this month.    But at this point, I am so excited to go, that I don't care!!!  I'll make up for it after christmas.

    I'm so excited!!!!!

It sounds like an awesome trip. I am so glad you are getting to go. It sounds like a wonderful place to relax and recharge.

I grew up on Oklahoma, the northwest corner, not in the panhandle but almost there. What area is your friend from? I love Oklahoma, it is a really unique state, lots of different types of land and the friendliest people, it really is a great place.

They live near Coalgate.......SE of OK city. We've been there a couple of times...once when Miss K was 4 months old & once when Miss K was 10 months old.
She came to visit me in January & stayed for 2 weeks with other family, too.

    I'm giddy with excitement!!

Jamee, the way I see it is that you're not quitting, you're just taking time out. You'll do it all when you return and in the meantime you'll be spending money on something valuable - an important friendship.

    Have fun!

You aren't quitting. You are investing the money in stress reduction and relaxation (important for good health) and socializing with a good friend (which is priceless). Geesh, I almost sound like one of those credit card commercials.
