Necessary Spending and then a Nice Surprise!
So, both Luvs and Pampers were on sale at ShopRite this week. Both were at pretty good sale prices. I had quite a few coupons and used 4 on Luvs on Sunday when I did my weekly shop. (Pampers were unadvertised, so I wasn't prepared with Pampers coupons, so I didn't buy any on Sunday.)
Normally I do NOT go to the store twice in one week, however, the diaper sale was really good when combined with my coupons and I'm trying to stockpile them for both Patrick and the baby so we are prepared when the winter comes. Also, somehow we ran out of Jelly, and I wanted to use the last of my coupons on Libby's veggies that were also on big sale this week.
So, Here's what I got:
4 jumbo packs Luvs Diapers (reg=$9.49 each sale+c/o=$6.49 each)
3 jumbo packs Pampers Diapers (reg=$11.99 sale+c/o=$7.49 each)
10 cans Libby's veggies (reg=$??? sale+c/o=$.20 each)
ShopRite grape jelly 2lb jar$1.49
***then I went a little nutty and this is why I DON'T go to ShopRite more than once a week and always armed with a list***
2 boxes ShopRite chicken nuggest ($2.99 each) totally didn't need these
1 gallon Breyer's coffee ice cream $5.49 (do I even need to tell you dh didn't need this?)
1 gallon Breyer's rocky road ice cream $5.49 (do I even need to tell you I didn't need this?)
Anyway, the total before coupons was $98.38, the total after was $70.38 (charged to my ShopRite Amex which we pay off every month) I earned a 10% off certificate for my next purchase and a $10 off certificate due to the Baby Bucks program.
However, I left the store hating myself for the ice cream and chicken nuggets. I was thinking of all the things that $17.00 can buy (and I came up with a LOT!).
I get home and get the mail and to my surprise, my car insurance company has started investing the money its clients pay for car insurance and has decided to share the dividends with the clients. So, there was a check for $80.48!!! Covers the cost of the trip, plus $10!
I'm feeling better now! (Please don't remind me that that $27.00 of that could have gone toward the van payment if I hadn't bought the ice cream and nuggets...that'll just bring me down again.
