I went to a bakery today
Someone on here (sorry can't remember who) said they got some buckets from the bakery and used those for flour, sugar, rice etc. I thought I would go see if I could get some from the store I used to work at. I know the bakery manager and she gladly gave me 4 to start off with. She was glad to give them away to me. I told her I'd probably be back!
They stack so perfectly on top of each other too. And I know they'll have a good seal. Before putting anything in it I tried putting the lid on one of them and I had to stand on it to get it to click. Hopefully they'll losen up a bit. Anyway, I'm just excited about my new buckets lol
I can't believe I never thought of this idea.

Good idea! I was thinking of asking the u-brew place where we get our wine made to see if I can get buckets from them the next time I go in to bottle a batch.

I'm glad you found a source for them. I've been using them for years and they are the best for storing most items. I too love how they stack on top of each other.
One thing I would recommend. If you can get a few extra tops, they are handy to have on hand. Sometimes the edges break because of how hard they are to open. I have a few on hand and it's come in really handy when I've screwed up the top.

Cool, thanks for the tip. She's more than happy to get rid of those things.
Question: I got 2 of them that had garlic and parsley spread in them and I can't get the smell out of them. I assume it's not a good idea to store flour in garlic smelly containers?? Any idea how I can get the smell out?

Angela, I use the bakery bins too. They're great for dried goods and flours.
I got one once that had a very strong raspberry smell. I filled it with water, added a cup of white vinegar and left it on a table in the sun for a couple of days. The smell was completely gone. I hope this helps you.

That's what dh suggested too. Leave them outside for a bit. Thanks! I hope the days to follow aren't as dreary as today was.
