Vacation ?

Describe your dream vaction on a tight budget. (Is this possible? or a contradiction?)

No I think it is definitely possible. We've travelled all over Canada on very tight budgets. We've stayed at lower end hotels or we've stayed in a tent. We seldom eat out when travelling. We take our own groceries, a camping stove and a few pots and pans.

We go to places that cost little or are free - musuems, parliament buildings, parks and zoos.

We've travelled frugally and we've travelling well. Both ways have been fun, relaxed and the kids remember them all. Thats the most important part of vacations.

We went to Europe (pre-kids) and stayed in a bunch of really cheap places. hostels I think? Someone had done all the research, so we were paying like $25 bucks some night. It was a place to sleep - clean enough and safe. In New Zealand we stayed at a bunch of little and outdated but clean places that were far cheaper than any big hotel. Could always fly standby.

My absolute dream vacation would not be possible on a tight budget, because it would involve absolutely no cooking or food preparation from me or any members of my family. We'd order out or eat out for all meals. (I'm not a fan of cooking...can you tell?) But, that's why it's called a DREAM!

I don't dare to dream about a vacation. We have never had one. We don't even own a suitcase, or a tent or sleeping bag.

Lol. I think an all inclusive (well researched to get lowest price) trip to some of the Hawaiian Islands would be to your liking. Works for me too.

My dream vacation wouldn't involve a small budget.

But on a small budget we would take the boys on the fall driving tour in PA. We may try doing this in 2006. Otherwise, most of the trips are going to involve admission fees and those are getting ridiculous.

We've had several low cost vacations in the past. Most of them did involve cooking, taking snacks and drinks and staying at cheaper places or visiting a relative on the way.
